Patriots' Romeo Doubs: Dominates at Saturday's practice
Doubs was the standout wide receiver during the Patriots' training camp practice Saturday, Taylor Kyles of CLNSMedia.com reports.
Doubs won multiple jump balls and hauled in three high-point touchdowns in the red zone during team drills. The veteran wide receiver has demonstrated strong rapport with quarterback Drake Maye during training camp, and head coach Mike Vrabel said Saturday that there have been "a lot of positive things trending in the right direction" for Doubs, per Taylor Kyles of CLNSMedia.com. Doubs and most of the other Patriots starters didn't play in Thursday's preseason opener against the Colts, though they could see some action in their next exhibition contest, which will take place Saturday, Aug. 22, against the Eagles.

Patriots' Romeo Doubs: Doesn't play against Indianapolis
Doubs did not play in the Patriots' 13-13 tie with the Colts in Thursday's preseason game.
Doubs, A.J. Brown and DeMario Douglas were the three Patriots wide receivers who observed Thursday's game in street clothes. Doubs inked a four-year contract with the Patriots in March after spending the first four years of his NFL career with the Packers, and he's slated to serve as a key target for QB Drake Maye in 2026 while starting alongside Brown. With last season's top wide receiver Stefon Diggs -- who led the team in targets (102), receptions (85) and receiving yards (1,013) -- no longer in the mix, Brown and Doubs now sit atop the Patriots' depth chart, thus boosting QB Drake Maye's supporting cast ahead of the 2026 campaign. With Green Bay in 2025, Doubs put up a 55/724/6 receiving line (on 85 targets) in 16 games, but in his new locale, the 26-year-old has an opportunity to see an uptick in production while profiling more like a high-volume "big" slot in New England's offense, per Lazar.
