Texans' Jayden Higgins: Suffers torn ACL at practice
Higgins was diagnosed Wednesday with an ACL tear, which would rule him out for the 2026 season, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.
We'll await confirmation from the team, but after early reports suggested a minor injury, it appears to be just the opposite, leaving Houston shorthanded at wide receiver a few weeks before the start of the regular season. Higgins seemingly was locked in for the No. 2 role, which could now be up for grabs between Xavier Hutchinson, Jaylin Noel (hamstring) and Tank Dell (knee). Fantasy interest in Noel and Dell figures to increase significantly now that Higgins is on track to be out of the picture until 2027.

Texans' Jayden Higgins: Dealing with leg injury, should be OK
Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud said, "I think he'll be fine" after Higgins appeared to suffer a leg injury in Tuesday's practice, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
That's more context than was offered by coach DeMeco Ryans, who didn't provide an immediate update on the wideout's status. While Stroud's comment regarding one of his key targets is encouraging, Higgins' availability will remain up in the air until the team offers a clearer picture of his health. Higgins is unlikely to see action in Thursday's preseason contest against the Raiders.

Texans' Jayden Higgins: Exits practice with potential injury
Higgins needed help getting to his feet after he was shaken up during Tuesday's practice, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com reports.
On the plus side, the wideout walked off on his own power. Per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, Higgins subsequently headed off the field to get checked out by team medical personnel. Afterward, coach DeMeco Ryans noted that he didn't have an immediate update on his status, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Consider Higgins day-to-day as Thursday's preseason contest against the Raiders approaches.

Texans' Jayden Higgins: Sits for preseason opener
Higgins did not play in Thursday's 27-7 preseason loss to the Chargers.
Higgins was joined by Nico Collins, Jaylin Noel and Tank Dell (knee) on the sidelines for Thursday's preseason game, while fourth-year wideout Xavier Hutchinson, Justin Watson and Jared Wayne served as the Texans' three starting wideouts. Higgins is coming off a solid rookie campaign, when he caught 41 passes (on 68 targets) for 525 yards and six touchdowns across 17 regular-season games. He's positioned as the clear WR2 for the Texans behind Collins while Hutchinson, Noel and Dell provide depth at the position.

Texans' Jayden Higgins: Drawing praise as WR2
Higgins has consistently drawn praise throughout spring activities as the team's No. 2 wide receiver behind Nico Collins, Jared Koch of SI.com reports.
The No. 34 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft posted a 41-525-6 receiving line on 68 targets across 17 games as a rookie and appears positioned for a Year 2 leap. Koch reports that Higgins stands as the clear No. 2 receiver on Houston's depth chart ahead of training camp, a role that could benefit from the team's upgraded offensive line and the departure of Christian Kirk to San Francisco. Xavier Hutchinson and Jaylin Noel remain in the mix behind Collins and Higgins, while Tank Dell (knee) is expected to return at some point during the 2026 season.
