  • Bears' JP Richardson: Signs future deal with Bears

Chicago signed Richardson to a reserve/future contract Tuesday.

Richardson signed with the Bears in April as an undrafted free agent and opted to stay in Chicago on the practice squad after failing to make the 53-man roster following the conclusion of training camp. His lone elevation to the active roster came in Week 17 against the 49ers, though he didn't end up seeing the field. Richardson will have the opportunity to participate in OTAs and minicamp during the offseason as a member of the Bears' 90-man roster.

  • JP Richardson: Back to practice squad

Richardson reverted to the 49ers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Richardson was elevated to the 49ers' active roster Saturday for the first time this season, but he was a healthy inactive for Sunday's win over the Bears. He's eligible to be elevated for Week 18 against the Seahawks, though that's unlikely to happen unless the 49ers are dealing with injuries to their wide-receiver corps.

  • Bears' JP Richardson: Elevated to face 49ers

The Bears have elevated Richardson from the practice squad Saturday, ahead of Sunday night's matchup against San Francisco.

Richardson looks set to make his regular-season debut as a depth option at wideout for Chicago in Week 17. The undrafted rookie out of TCU flashed for the Bears during training camp and the preseason.

  • JP Richardson: Stays with Chicago

Richardson signed to the Bears' practice squad Wednesday.

The wide receiver was waived Tuesday after playing 46 preseason snaps and catching four of six targets for 28 yards. Richardson did have a strong camp, per Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, so his return to the club via the practice squad is perhaps not a surprise. At the same time, the undrafted free agent out of TCU likely faces an uphill battle for a roster spot on a Bears team with DJ Moore, Rome Odunze and Luther Burden leading the receiver room.

  • JP Richardson: Cut by Chicago

The Bears waived Richardson on Tuesday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Undrafted out of TCU earlier this year, Richardson reportedly flashed during training camp, according to Biggs, and is a candidate to rejoin the Bears on the practice squad if he clears waivers. Richardson played 46 offensive snaps during the preseason and caught four of six targets for 28 yards. He also recently dealt with an ankle injury.

  • Bears' JP Richardson: Exits with ankle injury

Richardson (ankle) is doubtful to return to Sunday's preseason contest against the Bills, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.

Richardson picked up an ankle injury in the second half versus Buffalo, which will bring his night to a premature end. The wide receiver caught two of four targets for 21 yards before his departure. Richardson is battling for a spot on Chicago's 53-man roster, and he'll look to return to action in Friday's preseason finale against the Chiefs.
