Sione Takitaki: Let go with injury settlement
The Texans released Takitaki (hamstring) with an injury settlement Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Takitaki was placed on injured reserve Monday with a hamstring issue he suffered in training camp shortly after signing with the Texans. Takitaki will now likely look to sign with another franchise before the 2026 season concludes.

Texans' Sione Takitaki: Goes to IR
Houston placed Takitaki (undisclosed) on its injured-reserve list Monday.
Due to the timing of the transaction, Takitaki is now on track to spend the entire 2026 season on IR. Over three regular-season games with Minnesota in 2025, he played 45 snaps, all of them on special teams.

Texans' Sione Takitaki: Gets opportunity with Texans
Houston is set to sign Takitaki to a contract, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Takitaki took part in a workout with the Texans on Friday, and he impressed enough to be offered a contract. The veteran linebacker should get a chance to log meaningful training camp reps due to fellow linebackers E.J. Speed (quadriceps), Jamal Hill (wrist) and Jake Hansen (ankle) all being sidelined by injuries. Takitaki has started 40 of the 86 regular-season games he has played in his career, though he's mostly worked in a rotational role since parting ways with Cleveland after the 2023 campaign.

Sione Takitaki: Gets look from Houston
The Texans hosted Takitaki (undisclosed) for a tryout Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Takitaki appeared in the final three games of the regular season for the Vikings in 2025 but sustained a hamstring injury in Week 18 against the Packers. The 2019 third-rounder is in search of a team that is looking to add depth to its linebacker corps.

Vikings' Sione Takitaki: Suffers hamstring injury Sunday
Takitaki (hamstring) is questionable to return to Sunday's game versus the Packers.
Takitaki was a weekend elevation from Minnesota's practice squad for Week 18, but he exited the contest early after hurting his hamstring. Until he's ready to return to the field, Bo Richter could be a candidate to see additional reps at linebacker.

Sione Takitaki: Let go by New England
The Patriots released Takitaki on Wednesday.
Takitaki filled a rotational role for New England in 2024, tallying 21 tackles (seven solo) across 11 appearances. His release frees up roughly $2.8 million against the cap for the Patriots. The 29-year-old will look to find an opportunity elsewhere in free agency but will presumably have to settle for a depth role at linebacker no matter where he lands.

Patriots' Sione Takitaki: Rotational role in 2024
Takitaki finished the 2024 regular season with 21 tackles (seven solo) across 11 games.
Takitaki spent the first five years of his NFL career with the Browns, who selected him in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The LSU product opted to take his talents to New England, signing a two-year, $6.5 million in March of 2024. However, Takitaki underwent a knee scope procedure during the offseason, which caused the Patriots to place him on the PUP list at the start of the regular season. Takitaki missed six of the first seven games of the season, and when he did play he served in a rotational role at inside linebacker behind Christian Elliss. Takitaki could have a bigger role with the Patriots' first-team defense in 2025 if Elliss opts to sign elsewhere in free agency.

Patriots' Sione Takitaki: Able to suit up Sunday
Takitaki (hamstring) is active for Sunday's Week 11 contest against the Rams.
Takitaki began the practice week with a DNP due to a hamstring issue, but he was able to follow that with a pair of limited practices and is set to play against the Rams. The linebacker logged a season-high 47 percent of New England's defensive snaps last Sunday against Chicago, but he'll likely see less work in Week 11 with Christian Elliss back in action.

Patriots' Sione Takitaki: Questionable for Week 11
Takitaki (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams.
Takitaki suffered a hamstring injury in New England's Week 10 win over Chicago. He was a DNP on Wednesday, but he was able to finish the week with consecutive limited practices, which has given him a chance to play Sunday. If Takitaki and Christian Elliss (abdomen) are unable to suit up Sunday, Curtis Jacobs would likely start at inside linebacker alongside Jahlani Tavai.
