Browns' Harold Fannin: Hauls in TD in preseason finale
Fannin caught both his targets for 16 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 19-17 preseason win over the Rams.
The 2025 third-round pick saw work with the Browns' starters, and his TD came on a 15-yard toss from Joe Flacco midway through the first quarter. David Njoku remains at the top of the tight end depth chart, but Fannin has drawn rave reviews in training camp and could see more action than expected in two-TE sets, providing Flacco with another potentially dynamic receiving option.

Browns' Jerome Ford: Splits work with Sampson
Ford carried the ball twice for 14 yards and caught both his targets for five yards in Saturday's 19-17 preseason win over the Rams.
The fourth-year back split the backfield workload with fourth-round rookie Dylan Sampson over the Browns' first two drives, before Sampson checked out and was replaced by Pierre Strong. Ford himself then gave way to Ahmani Marshall to begin the second quarter. Ford and Sampson figure to share touches to begin the regular season as well, but how snaps are actually divided between the two, and in what situations, remains to be seen. Quinshon Judkins, a second-round pick in 2025 who has yet to sign a contract with Cleveland due to off-field issues, remains a wild card but could be added to the backfield later in the year.

Sanders completed three of six passes for 14 yards in Saturday's 19-17 preseason win over the Rams.
The 2025 fifth-round pick was the third quarterback into the game for the Browns behind Week 1 starter Joe Flacco and 2025 third-round selection Dillon Gabriel, and Sanders did little to shake up the depth chart as he took five sacks on five drives while playing most of the second half. Kenny Pickett (hamstring) is still in the mix as well for slotting behind Flacco, but Gabriel appears to be firmly ahead of Sanders if there's room for only one rookie QB on the roster.

Browns' Dillon Gabriel: Tosses TD in preseason finale
Gabriel completed 12 of 19 passes for 129 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 19-17 preseason win over the Rams.
Entering the game in the second quarter after No. 1 quarterback Joe Flacco handled the Browns' first three drives, Gabriel quickly led the team to 10 points before halftime, highlighted by a three-yard TD toss to Gage Larvadian with 17 seconds left on the clock. The absence of Kenny Pickett (hamstring) during training camp and the preseason has provided Gabriel with valuable reps, and the 2025 third-round pick has rarely looked out of place. Fellow rookie Shedeur Sanders remains in the mix for a spot behind Flacco as well, but Gabriel has made a solid case to begin the season in the No. 3 role, if not No. 2.

Browns' Joe Flacco: Sharp in Saturday's start
Flacco completed nine of 10 passes for 71 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 19-17 preseason win over the Rams.
Flacco was nearly flawless while working the Browns' first three drives, capping the second with a 15-yard TD strike to rookie tight end Harold Fannin. The 41-year-old is set as the Week 1 starter for Cleveland, and while the team may choose to take a look at one of the quarterbacks it selected in the 2025 Draft, Dillon Gabriel or Shedeur Sanders, if the season goes off the rails, Flacco offers a much more stable floor for the passing game, and targets such as Jerry Jeudy and David Njoku.

Browns' Julian Okwara: Exits game with rib injury
Okwara is questionable to return to Saturday's preseason game against the Rams due to a rib injury.
Okwara suffered the injury in the third quarter during a Brennan Presley 24-yard reception. Okwara was able to walk off the field under his own power. If he doesn't return, he'll finish Saturday's game with one tackle.

Browns' Pierre Strong: Exits for concussion protocol
Strong left Saturday's preseason game against the Rams to be evaluated for a concussion.
The Browns played their healthy starters, with Dylan Sampson and Jerome Ford sharing backfield work on the first two drives before Strong came on for the third series. If a concussion is confirmed, Strong will have 15 days to clear protocol before a Week 1 opener against Cincinnati on Sun., Sept. 7. He's unlikely to be any higher than third on the depth chart even if he makes it back quickly and fellow running back Quinshon Judkins remains unsigned.

Browns' Blake Whiteheart: Won't return vs. Rams
Whiteheart has been ruled out for the rest of Saturday's game against the Rams due to a knee injury.
Whiteheart may have suffered the injury during the Browns' second offensive drive of the second quarter. He's gone to the locker room to undergo further tests to determine the severity of the injury, and he'll finish his day with one catch for 12 yards. Brenden Bates, Sal Cannella and Mitch Van Vooren should all see an uptick in playing time at tight end for the rest of Saturday's game due to Whiteheart's injury.

Browns' Ethan Pocic: Won't return Saturday
Pocic has been ruled out for the rest of Saturday's preseason game against the Rams due to a knee injury, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
Pocic appeared to suffer an injury to his left knee during the Browns' second offensive drive of the first quarter. He was able to walk off the field under his own power and went to the locker room after being checked on by trainers on the sidelines, and he'll undergo further tests to determine the severity of the injury. Luke Wypler has taken over at center following Pocic's exit.
