David Tomasek: Waived unconditionally
Tomasek will be placed on unconditional waivers Sunday for the purpose of terminating his contract with the Oilers.
Tomasek has played 22 games at the NHL level this season, tallying three goals and adding a pair of assists. The 29-year-old inked a one-year deal with Edmonton in April after he managed 24 goals and 57 points in 47 regular-season games with Farjestads of the Swedish Hockey League. He was unable to garner a regular spot with the Oilers this season and is expected to return to Sweden after passing through waivers. The move cannot take effect until Sunday, as the NHL does not allow any transactions during the Christmas break.

Oilers' David Tomasek: Deposits goal in win
Tomasek scored a goal in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Jets.
Tomasek was one of 10 Oilers forwards to get a point in this contest, stretching their lead to 6-1 in the third period. He had been scratched for the previous three games, but he stepped in for Connor Clattenburg (eye) on the fourth line. With Clattenburg set to miss a week, Tomasek has a chance to reclaim a steadier spot in the lineup. The 29-year-old has managed three goals, two assists, 24 shots on net, 17 hits and a minus-5 rating over 19 appearances in his first NHL campaign.

Oilers' David Tomasek: Nets goal in high-scoring loss
Tomasek scored a goal on two shots in Wednesday's 7-4 loss to the Capitals.
Tomasek got the Oilers within a goal early in the third period, but they couldn't catch up. The 29-year-old should get a regular run in the lineup while Noah Philp and Curtis Lazar are both sidelined by upper-body injuries. Tomasek has put up four points, 22 shots on net, 11 hits and a minus-7 rating over 15 appearances in a part-time role this year.

Oilers' David Tomasek: Scores first NHL goal
Tomasek scored a goal and added two hits in Thursday's 6-5 win over the Canadiens.
Tomasek tied the game at 1-1 late in the first period with the first goal of his NHL career. The 29-year-old has added two assists, 12 shots on net, five hits and a minus-1 rating across seven appearances. He isn't a lock for the lineup, but he has received power-play time when he plays. However, his path to the first unit could be gone when Zach Hyman (wrist) returns, likely at the start of November, which will make it tougher for Tomasek to get on the scoresheet.

Oilers' David Tomasek: Earns assist in NHL debut
Tomasek logged a power-play assist, three shots on goal and four PIM in Wednesday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Flames.
This was Tomasek's NHL debut, and he helped out on Leon Draisaitl's 400th NHL goal. The 29-year-old Tomasek was listed on the fourth line but saw 13:20 of ice time, seventh-most among Edmonton forwards in the contest. He's likely to be limited to a bottom-six role to begin with, and the Oilers' signing of Jack Roslovic on Wednesday could eventually cost Tomasek his roster spot altogether if they opt to keep rookies Matthew Savoie and Isaac Howard in the lineup.

Oilers' David Tomasek: Back up with big club
Tomasek was recalled from AHL Bakersfield on Tuesday.
Tomasek was loaned to the minors Monday, but now that he's back up with the Oilers, he appears poised to make his NHL debut Wednesday against Calgary. The 29-year-old forward skated on the fourth line with Curtis Lazar and Adam Henrique during Tuesday's practice, but Tomasek could be a name to keep an eye on if he is able to work his way up the lineup in 2025-26.
