  • Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Scores game-winner on power play

Svechnikov scored a power-play goal on five shots in Friday's 4-3 win over the Jets. He gave the Hurricanes a 4-2 lead in the third period, and that insurance tally proved vital when Gabriel Vilardi answered just under a minute later. Svechnikov has scored five goals and added four assists over his last nine contests, which has helped him move past his slow start to the season. Overall, he's at seven goals, 12 points (four on the power play), 60 shots on net, 23 hits, 10 PIM and a plus-2 rating through 21 outings.

  • Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Three-point effort in overtime win

Svechnikov scored twice (one with the man advantage), added an assist, logged two hits and went plus-2 in Friday's 4-3 overtime win over the Canucks. Svechnikov had a great offensive game, but his unpenalized high elbow on Filip Hronek late in the contest could be reviewed by the league for supplemental discipline. Prior to that bone-headed play, Svechnikov was involved in all three of the Hurricanes' goals in regulation time. The 25-year-old winger is up to six goals, including three on the power play, while adding four assists, 46 shots on net, 18 hits, six PIM and a plus-3 rating over 17 appearances this year. All of that offense has come since Oct. 28, as he opened the year in an eight-game skid.

  • Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Scores in second straight

Svechnikov recorded a power-play goal and an even-strength assist in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Sabres. The 25-year-old forward gave the Hurricanes a 2-1 lead with a power-play tally at the 4:34 mark of the second period, and he also set up Carolina's first goal, courtesy of Sebastian Aho, in the opening frame. Svechnikov is known for his scoring more than anything else, and he's posted solid numbers in that regard. He's found the back of the net in four of his last six games, tallying four goals, two assists, 18 shots, six hits, two blocked shots and a plus-5 rating in that stretch.

  • Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Sniper's goal in win

Svechnikov scored a goal Thursday in a 4-3 win over the Wild. Svechnikov took a pass from Alexander Nikishin in the neutral zone, skated to the left circle and ripped a shot between the legs of the Minnesota defender for a short-side snipe. The talented winger has struggled to find his offensive groove this season. The goal was Svechnikov's third (four points) in 13 contests this season. He's too good for this to go on much longer, and you cannot drop him. Bench him until he lights a fire under his game.

  • Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Scoring pace quickening

Svechnikov scored a goal and added an assist Thursday in a 6-2 win over the Islanders. Fantasy managers are breathing a sigh of relief. Svechnikov has three points (two goals, one assist) in his last two games after being held scoreless for eight games to start the season. His ice time has dropped from last season (14:51 compared to 17:07), but that's not a significant cause for concern. Carolina is deep, and Svechnikov will bounce back from this and from last season's 48 points in 72 games.

  • Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Ends goal drought Tuesday

Svechnikov scored a power-play goal in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Golden Knights. The 25-year-old winger opened the scoring early in the first period by ripping a one-timer from the high slot past Akira Schmid after a faceoff win by Sebastian Aho. It was Svechnikov's first goal and first point of the season in nine games. While it's reassuring that he's still on the top power-play unit for Carolina, he still has some work to do to regain the trust of fantasy managers after a disappointing 2024-25 regular season that saw him manage just 20 goals and 48 points in 72 contests.

  • Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Registers helper

Svechnikov posted an assist, two shots on goal, four hits and two PIM in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Panthers in Game 5. Svechnikov had three helpers over five games in the Eastern Conference Finals. The 25-year-old produced a total of eight goals, four assists, 40 shots on net, 63 hits, 22 PIM and a plus-4 rating over 15 playoff outings. Svechnikov missed the 50-point mark for the first time in four years during the regular season, and he's also missed at least 10 games in three straight campaigns. He makes up for the relatively modest scoring totals by adding hits, shots and PIM in spades, but it's fair to question if Svechnikov can consistently find another level on offense over the rest of his career.

  • Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Near top of postseason goal list

Svechnikov scored the game-winning and series-winning goal in Thursday's 3-1 victory over Washington. Svechnikov took a pass from Sean Walker on the rush and scored on a tough-angle shot from the bottom of the right circle. It was his eighth goal of the postseason, extending his goal streak to three games (three goals). Svechnikov is second only to Mikko Rantanen (nine) on the postseason sniper list.

  • Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Secures hat trick in Game 4 win

Svechnikov scored three goals on a game-high six shots, doled out five hits and went plus-2 in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Devils in Game 4. Even though Carolina lost Frederik Andersen to an undisclosed injury in the second period, Svechnikov's contributions helped the Canes move closer to a first-round series win. The 25-year-old Svechnikov scored twice at even strength and once on the power play, with his final marker being an empty-netter. The Russian winger is the only player in franchise history to record a playoff hat trick, having now accomplished that feat twice in his career, according to the Hurricanes. Svechnikov has been held off the scoresheet only once in this series, having generated four goals and one assist across four games.

  • Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Supplies power-play assist

Svechnikov notched a power-play assist and two shots on goal in Friday's 3-2 double-overtime loss to the Devils in Game 3. Svechnikov has a goal, an assist, seven shots on net and six hits over three playoff contests. He set up Sebastian Aho for the game-tying goal at 12:20 of the third period. Svechnikov's power-play role should help him get more looks on offense, but he's struggled with consistency at times in 2024-25, which has landed him a spot in the middle six regularly.

  • Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Two points in finale

Svechnikov scored a power-play goal and added an even-strength assist in Thursday's 7-5 loss to the Senators. The 25-year-old winger potted his 20th goal of the season early in the second period, as he waited until the final game of the regular season to reach that milestone for the fifth time. It was Svechnikov's first multi-point performance since Feb. 22, and over nine contests since returning from an upper-body injury in late March, he's produced two goals and five points.

  • Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: First helper since return

Svechnikov notched an assist, four hits, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Capitals. Svechnikov has battled injuries recently but still has three points over his last five outings. If the injury issue crops up again, don't be surprised to see Svechnikov rest before the end of the regular season -- the Hurricanes are locked into a first-round matchup versus the Devils to begin the playoffs. Svechnikov has managed 46 points, 172 shots on net, 142 hits, 57 PIM and a minus-6 rating through 68 contests this season.

  • Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Good to go

Svechnikov (undisclosed) will play against Buffalo on Tuesday, per Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal. Svechnikov will return to a middle-six role and see time on the power play after missing the last two games. He has accounted for 19 goals, 45 points, 170 shots on net and 135 hits through 66 appearances this season. Svechnikov and Jordan Staal (lower body) will replace Jesperi Kotkaniemi (undisclosed) and Justin Robidas, who is back with AHL Chicago, in Tuesday's lineup.

  • Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Practices Monday

Svechnikov (undisclosed) participated fully in Monday's practice, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports. Svechnikov has missed the last two games but appears to be progressing toward a potential return to action. However, it is still unclear if he will be ready for Tuesday's matchup versus Buffalo. Svechnikov has generated 19 goals, 45 points, 170 shots on net and 135 hits through 66 appearances this season.

  • Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Out through road trip

Svechnikov (undisclosed) will be reevaluated following the Hurricanes' four-game road trip, Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal reports Friday. According to head coach Rod Brind'Amour, Svechnikov is only being held out for precautionary reasons -- though that doesn't necessarily match with the fact that he will be sidelined for the next four games. The 25-year-old winger previously missed seven games with an upper-body injury, so it's possible this latest ailment is related. Due to Svechnikov being on the shelf, Eric Robinson will step into a top-six role.

  • Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Nabs assist in Sunday's win

Svechnikov posted an assist and four PIM in Sunday's 6-4 win over the Islanders. Svechnikov has a goal and an assist over two games since he returned from missing seven contests to an upper-body injury. The winger was back on the second line Sunday after playing on the fourth line Friday versus the Canadiens. The 25-year-old has struggled a bit in 2024-25, earning 19 goals, 26 helpers, 170 shots on net, 134 hits and 57 PIM across 65 appearances. He's at risk of falling short of the 50-point mark for the third time in his career.

  • Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Tallies empty netter in return

Svechnikov scored an empty-net goal in Friday's 4-1 win over the Canadiens. After missing seven games with an upper-body injury, Svechnikov found the scoresheet with an empty-net goal to seal the win for Carolina. Friday's tally helped the forward end a five-game scoreless drought he experienced before the injury. Overall, the 25-year-old Svechnikov has 19 goals, 44 points and 169 shots on net in 64 games this season. While Svechnikov's 2024-25 campaign has been slightly underwhelming offensively, he could still top the 50-point threshold for the fourth consecutive year if he can get hot down the stretch. Svechnikov adds solid value in standard formats for the fantasy postseason.

  • Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Ready to rock

Svechnikov (upper body) will return to the lineup versus Montreal on Friday, per Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer. Svechnikov missed seven games with the injury. The second overall pick in 2018 has 18 goals and 25 assists, including 17 points on the power play, across 63 appearances this season. Look for Tyson Jost to be a healthy scratch due to Svechnikov's return.

  • Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Won't play against Nashville

Svechnikov (upper body) will remain sidelined Tuesday versus the Predators, according to Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer. Svechnikov will miss his seventh consecutive game Tuesday. According to head coach Rod Brind'Amour, the 24-year-old winger could have suited up against Nashville, but the team is being cautious with Svechnikov's injury, per Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal. Svechnikov is expected to return to the lineup for Friday's home meeting with the Canadiens.

  • Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Unlikely to play Thursday

Svechnikov (upper body) is doubtful for Thursday's game against the Sharks, Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal reports. There was hope that Svechnikov would be able to return for Thursday's matchup, but it appears as though he'll be sidelined for a fourth consecutive game. His next opportunity to suit up will be Saturday in Los Angeles, while Tyson Jost will likely remain in the lineup against San Jose.
