Penguins' Chase Pietila: Up from minors
Pietila was promoted from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Thursday.
Pietila's elevation to the NHL roster would seem to indicate that neither Samuel Girard (undisclosed) nor Trevor van Riemsdyk (lower body) will be ready to play against the Panthers on Thursday. While Ilya Solovyov likely has the inside track for the final spot on the blue line, the 22-year-old Pietila has two points in five games with the Baby Pens to start the year.

Penguins' Chase Pietila: Earns two helpers in AHL win
Pietila registered two assists in AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's 2-1 overtime win over Providence on Saturday.
Pietila is in his rookie year in the AHL. He hasn't added much offense yet with seven assists in 23 games, but he has posted 38 shots on net, 26 PIM and a plus-9 rating to show some grit in the defensive zone. Saturday's performance ended a five-game slump and was his first multi-point effort.
