Canucks' Zeev Buium: Two points in team debut
Buium scored a power-play goal, recorded a power-play assist and placed two shots on net in Sunday's 2-1 win over New Jersey.
In the 20-year-old blueliner's debut with the Canucks, he recorded a power-play assist 1:01 into the contest. At 6:48 of the first period, he lit the lamp with a man advantage to double the lead for his new team. Between Minnesota and Vancouver, Buium is up to four goals, 12 assists, 33 shots on goal and 16 blocks through 32 games this season. His rookie campaign has seen its ups and downs, but it's an encouraging sign that his confidence hasn't wavered after being traded for Quinn Hughes on Friday. After Sunday's performance, Buium is likely set to take over Vancouver's quarterback role on the top power-play unit moving forward, giving him a shot to join this season's race for the Calder Trophy.

Canucks' Zeev Buium: Top prospect on move in trade
Buium was traded to the Canucks from the Wild on Friday, along with Marco Rossi (lower body), Liam Ohgren and a 2026 first-round pick, in exchange for Quinn Hughes, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.
Buium is essentially a replacement for Hughes on the Canucks' current roster. He also moves back the Canucks' competitive window, which has rapidly closed amid recent mismanagement. The 20-year-old Buium may struggle initially after the trade, but he has the potential to be a superstar in his own right on the blue line, and he'll get far more opportunities in Vancouver than he was receiving in Minnesota. The blueliner, a first-round pick in 2024, had 14 points and a minus-9 rating over 31 appearances prior to the trade.

Wild's Zeev Buium: Plucks apple in loss
Buium notched an assist in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Flames.
Buium has four helpers (two on the power play) and a plus-1 rating over his last 11 contests. He's added just seven shots on net, so he'll need to be generating more chances for his offense to become reliable. He's at three goals, 10 assists, 29 shots on net, 14 blocked shots and a minus-9 rating through 28 outings on the year.

Wild's Zeev Buium: Scores on power play Tuesday
Buium scored a power-play goal in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Predators.
Buium snapped a three-game point drought with the tally. The 19-year-old defenseman has three goals and six assists through 14 appearances, with six of his nine points coming on the power play. He's added 19 shots on net, four blocked shots, three hits, two PIM and a minus-11 rating. Relying on power-play production alone makes Buium a bit volatile for fantasy, but he has plenty of scoring potential with little upside in other areas.

Wild's Zeev Buium: Lights lamp in overtime loss
Buium scored a goal in Sunday's 6-5 overtime loss to the Sharks.
Buium is on a three-game point streak, earning a goal and two assists in that span. The 19-year-old defenseman has earned eight points (two goals, six assists) through his first 10 NHL regular-season outings. He's added 15 shots on net, four blocked shots and a minus-8 rating while averaging 20:01 of ice time. Buium has immense scoring potential, but his defensive play is still a work in progress, so his ice time may fluctuate a bit.

Wild's Zeev Buium: Collects two power-play assists
Buium notched a pair of power-play assists, two shots on goal and a minus-2 rating in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Stars.
Buium set up goals by Matt Boldy and Kirill Kaprizov in the Wild's comeback attempt that fell short in the third period. With a goal and four helpers, all on the power play, over four games this season, Buium has had little trouble adjusting to the NHL in his first professional season. His defensive game is still in need of some work -- he's now sporting a minus-6 rating -- but that will come with experience. As long as the Wild's top power-play unit is filling the net with Buium involved, he should be rostered in most fantasy formats.

Wild's Zeev Buium: First two points of career
Buium recorded a power-play goal and a power-play assist in Saturday's 7-4 loss to the Blue Jackets.
Buium has logged over 20 minutes of playing time in his first two appearances this season, but unlike what happened in the 5-0 win over St. Louis on Thursday, this time he managed to crack the scoresheet. This was Buium's first multi-point performance of his NHL career, and even though it's been only two games, the 12th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft seems to be shaping up for an excellent rookie year in 2025-26.

Wild's Zeev Buium: Has big role
Although Buium didn't record a point in his NHL regular-season debut Thursday, he did log big minutes in the 5-0 victory over St. Louis.
Buium got 20:10 of ice time, including 2:15 with the man advantage. If that workload is a preview of things to come, then Buium is perfectly positioned to have a fantastic rookie campaign. The 19-year-old was taken with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft. He excelled as a sophomore with the University of Denver in 2024-25, recording 13 goals, 48 points and 44 PIM in 41 outings. He also registered an assist in four playoff outings with Minnesota last year.

Wild's Zeev Buium: Slated to suit up Thursday
Buium (upper body) will make his preseason debut Thursday against the Stars, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.
Buium sustained an upper-body injury last week and was held out of Tuesday's preseason game against the Stars. However, he'll be able to return to action a week later, which should give him some time to work with the team ahead of Minnesota's Opening Night matchup against the Blues on Oct. 9.

Wild's Zeev Buium: Won't play versus Stars
Buium (upper body) will not be in the lineup for Tuesday's preseason game against Dallas.
Buium was labeled day-to-day by the team Friday, so it doesn't seem like this is a long-term concern for the blueliner. Still, as a 19-year-old rookie, Buium can't afford to miss too much training camp time if he is going to be a factor for the Wild this season.

Wild's Zeev Buium: Dealing with upper-body injury
Buium sustained an upper-body injury Thursday and is considered day-to-day, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.
Although it's discouraging that Buium is dealing with an injury early in camp, head coach John Hynes said Friday that he doesn't consider the injury to be serious. It's unclear whether Buium will miss any time during the preseason, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him be able to suit up for Opening Night.

Wild's Zeev Buium: Earns first point
Buium notched a power-play assist in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Golden Knights in Game 3.
Buium's played in all three playoff games so far, keeping Declan Chisholm and Jon Merrill in the press box. As expected, Buium's minutes have been limited -- though he is seeing power-play time. That's where he set up a Kirill Kaprizov tally just 3:13 into this contest. The Wild have a couple of workhorse defensemen in Brock Faber and Jonas Brodin, so Buium is likely to be sheltered throughout the playoffs before getting a chance at a larger role in 2025-26.

Wild's Zeev Buium: Inks entry-level deal
Buium signed a three-year, entry-level contract with Minnesota on Sunday.
Buium will report to the NHL after completing his freshman season with the University of Denver in 2024-25. During his final NCAA campaign, the 19-year-old blueliner had 13 goals and 48 points in 41 games. Due to injuries to Jake Middleton (upper body) and Jared Spurgeon (neck), Buium could make his NHL debut in Tuesday's regular-season finale versus Anaheim.
