The 20-year-old Smith is showing signs of becoming a very effective Robin to Macklin Celebrini's Batman, and through seven games to begin the season, Smith has eight points.

For the season, Smith has 17 goals, 27 helpers, 12 power-play points, 121 shots on net and a minus-10 rating over 70 appearances. The Sharks have four games left on the schedule, so Smith still has plenty of time to help fantasy managers pad their scoring numbers.

Smith is up to six points, 24 shots on net and a minus-12 rating over 19 contests. He has sat out one game in all four of the Sharks' back-to-back sets so far, so fantasy managers should expect him to sit out either Friday or Saturday during a home-and-home against the Kraken.

    Smith will be a healthy scratch Friday in Winnipeg, Max Miller of NHL.com reports. The Sharks have decided to ease Smith into his first year in the NHL, as it is a long schedule, and are making him sit out the second game of back-to-back contests after playing Thursday in Chicago. The Ducks did the same thing last season with Leo Carlsson. so expect this to happen with some frequency the rest of the campaign with the highly-regarded Smith. The youngster has yet to hit the scoresheet in four games.
