Perreault has been assigned to AHL Hartford by the Rangers, the team announced Sunday.
Perreault was brought up from the AHL in an attempt to spark the Rangers' struggling offense. The team scored 15 goals in the three games he suited up for, but the 20-year-old registered just one point, his first in the NHL, and a plus-2 rating. He'll head back to Hartford and look to continue to dominate and build on the 10 points (five goals, five assists) in nine games he has there so far.

Perreault set up Alexis Lafreniere's goal in the second period. The helper was Perreault's first point over six NHL appearances, and it came in his season debut for the Rangers. The 20-year-old started the campaign at AHL Hartford and impressed with 10 points in nine outings. It's unclear how long he'll stick around with the big club, but Perreault is one of the Rangers' top prospects and will be put in positions that benefit his scoring instincts.

Perreault didn't make the NHL roster out of camp in a bit of a surprise, but the 20-year-old will get another chance with the big club now. He has played well with AHL Hartford, notching five goals and five assists in nine games with a plus-7 rating. He's likely to slot right into the New York lineup and will try to provide a jolt to an offense currently sitting at 2.19 goals per game, tied for the worst mark in the league.

Perreault was thought to have a good chance at making the Rangers' roster out of training camp, but it was decided that he needed some time at the minor-league level. Perreault was selected 23rd overall in the 2023 NHL Draft and signed his entry-level deal in March after leaving Boston College. He managed 16 goals and 32 assists in 37 NCAA games in 2024-25. Look for Perreault to see some NHL action this season.
