Canadiens' Maksymilian Szuber: Inks one-year contract
Szuber signed a one-year, two-way contract with Montreal on Monday.
Szuber produced 11 goals, 27 points and 67 PIM across 65 regular-season appearances for AHL Tucson in 2025-26. The 23-year-old Szuber will probably begin the 2026-27 campaign with AHL Laval after the Canadiens acquired him from Utah on June 29 in exchange for Joshua Roy.

Canadiens' Maksymilian Szuber: Traded to Montreal
Szuber was traded to the Canadiens from the Mammoth on Monday in exchange for Joshua Roy, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Szuber was recalled by the Mammoth on two occasions last year, but he didn't appear in any NHL games. He made 65 regular-season appearances with AHL Tucson and recorded 11 goals, 16 assists and 67 PIM. He made his NHL debut with a lone appearance during the 2023-24 campaign, and he'll get a change of scenery for the 2026-27 season. However, it seems likely that he'll spend most of his time in the minors.

Szuber was reassigned to AHL Tucson on Saturday.
Szuber has been a healthy scratch in Utah's last three games. He hasn't logged any playing time in the NHL yet this season. The 23-year-old blueliner has 10 goals and 25 points in 50 AHL appearances during the 2025-26 campaign.

Szuber was recalled from AHL Tucson on Monday.
With Szuber set to join the Mammoth, his call-up indicates that Mikhail Sergachev (lower body) isn't ready to return to the lineup. Szuber has been a steady contributor in the AHL this season with 10 goals, 15 assists and 78 shots on net across 50 games this season. The move gives him his first chance to suit up in Utah after playing one NHL game when the franchise was in Arizona during the 2023-24 season.

The defenseman is up to 17 points in 29 appearances for Tucson this season, a pace better than his 32-point effort over 65 regular-season contests in 2024-25. The Mammoth's blue line doesn't look to have room for him yet, but Szuber is looking at a third straight solid campaign in the AHL and could make a push for a roster spot in 2026-27.
