Bruins' Morgan Geekie: Logs three points in loss
Geekie scored a goal on two shots and added two assists, including one on the power play, in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Sabres in Game 1.
Geekie has six goals and two helpers over his last five games. The 27-year-old struggled for a stretch late in the regular season, producing just seven assists over 17 games between March 7 and April 5. He was a standout this season with 39 goals, 68 points, 181 shots on net and 110 hits over 81 regular-season contests. Geekie is a veteran of four previous postseasons, in which he totaled 10 points in 37 appearances. Expectations will be higher for him this spring since he's established himself as a high-end goal scorer.

The 27-year-old continues to fill the cage at a high rate, with this one being his career-best 34th goal in just 60 appearances. He's added 22 assists, 139 shots, 94 hits and a minus-6 rating. Geekie needs two more points to set a career high there, and he's got plenty of time to do that -- he could push for 70-plus points by the end of the campaign.

Geekie did his part in the game, but the Bruins collapsed by blowing a four-goal lead in regulation before taking the shootout loss. Geekie played the hero in Saturday's contest with a power-play goal in the second period to tie the contest before he later scored the go-ahead tally just 12 seconds after Fraser Minten leveled the game at three apiece. Overall, the 27-year-old Geekie is up to 28 goals, 47 points, 118 shots on net and 82 hits through 51 games this season. Geekie had gone a month between goals, adding just three assists in 12 appearances in that span. Regression has seemingly come for Geekie's production. He was shooting 27.8 percent at the time of his previous goal (Dec. 20), but that has dropped to 22.8 percent following Tuesday's contest. The 27-year-old has 26 goals, 43 points, 114 shots on net, 76 hits and a minus-6 rating over 49 appearances this season. He should still be a decent middle-six forward, especially if he can find some middle ground for his scoring production.

Bruins' Morgan Geekie: Returning to action
Geekie (personal) will be in the lineup for Tuesday's home divisional matchup versus Detroit, according to Jim McBride of The Boston Globe.
Geekie missed his first game of the season Sunday against the Penguins due to the birth of his child, but he won't miss any further game action. The right-shot forward skated on the third line with Alex Steeves and Fraser Minten during Tuesday's morning skate. Geekie will resume his role with the man advantage as well, where he's garnered 12 of his 41 points (25 goals, 16 helpers) across 45 appearances this season.
