  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: In goal Monday

Greaves will get the starting nod at home versus the Devils on Monday, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reports.

Greaves posted a fantastic .938 save percentage in the season opener against the Predators on Thursday but still came away with a loss due to the lack of offensive support. It's still early in the year, but through three games, the Jackets have been rotating their backstops, so look for Elvis Merzlikins to get the nod in Thursday's home game against the Avalanche.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Loses close battle

Greaves rejected 29 of the 31 shots he saw in Thursday's 2-1 loss to Nashville.

While Greaves will start the 2025-26 campaign with a loss, he allowed just one goal through the first two periods of the contest before surrendering Ryan O'Reilly's game-winning tally on a Nashville power play early in the third. The 24-year-old Greaves now has a 0-1-0 record with a 2.04 GAA and a .935 save percentage. The young netminder showed elite flashes down the stretch last season, as he finished the year with a 7-2-2 record, 1.91 GAA and .938 save percentage in 11 appearances. Columbus head coach Dean Evason and the rest of the Blue Jackets' staff displayed their confidence in Greaves by giving him the starting nod Thursday over Elvis Merzlikins. However, the two goalies are expected to operate in a timeshare to open the season. Nonetheless, Greaves has breakout potential this season and is a top name to keep an eye on in fantasy. Thursday's performance is a strong building block for the 24-year-old moving forward.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Drawing Opening Night start

Greaves will serve as the starting goaltender for Thursday's Opening Night matchup on the road against Nashville, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reports.

Although Greaves saw limited playing time for the Blue Jackets last year, he had a stellar late-season performance that nearly propelled the team to the playoffs. Overall, he went 7-2-2 with a 1.91 GAA and .938 save percentage over 11 regular-season appearances, and he'll be rewarded with the Opening Night start to begin the 2025-26 campaign. Elvis Merzlikins should still see his fair share of playing time this season, but it seems as though Greaves will have ample opportunities to make an impact.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Tending twine Tuesday

Greaves will protect the home crease in Tuesday's preseason game versus the Capitals, according to Aaron Portzline of The Athletic.

Greaves turned in an excellent performance in his last start of the preseason Wednesday, making 24 saves on 25 shots in a 4-1 win over Pittsburgh. This will be the 24-year-old netminder's third appearance in exhibition play, and considering Columbus has only one tune-up game left after Tuesday's matchup, this could be the last action Greaves sees until the start of the regular season.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Making start Wednesday

Greaves will protect the home goal in Wednesday's preseason game versus the Penguins, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports.

Greaves is set for his second preseason appearance after allowing one goal on 24 shots in his previous outing. That was a positive first audition in his attempt to secure one of the Blue Jackets' goaltending spots for the year, and he'll continue to battle with Elvis Merzlikins and Ivan Fedotov during the exhibition slate.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Will return to AHL

Greaves will be reassigned to AHL Cleveland following Thursday's 6-1 win over the Islanders, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports.

Graves made a great case for himself late in the season, winning the Blue Jackets' last five games of the year. He allowed just four goals on 160 shots in that span, good for a .975 save percentage. He'll head down to Cleveland for the remainder of the Monsters' regular season and playoff run, but the 24-year-old has put himself in position for a spot on Columbus' 2025-26 roster, and potentially even the team's No. 1 job in net.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Tending twine to close out season

Greaves will defend the home crease against the Islanders on Thursday, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports.

The Blue Jackets were eliminated from postseason contention when the Canadiens defeated the Hurricanes on Wednesday night, but Greaves will still get the start in Thursday's regular-season finale since Elvis Merzlikins (upper body) remains sidelined. Greaves helped to keep Columbus in the mix for a playoff spot by going 4-0-0 with a 0.75 GAA and .976 save percentage over his last four starts.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Another shutout Tuesday

Greaves turned aside all 29 shots he faced in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Flyers.

The 24-year-old netminder has become a folk hero in Columbus over the last week, winning four straight starts since being recalled from AHL Cleveland and allowing a total of only three goals on 123 shots, picking up two shutouts along the way. Greaves' hot streak has improbably kept the Blue Jackets alive in the playoff race, and they now need a regulation win in their regular-season finale Thursday against the Islanders -- plus a regulation loss by the Canadiens on Wednesday against the Hurricanes -- to claim the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. Regardless of the availability of Elvis Merzlikins (upper body), Greaves seems certain to get the start Thursday if the game still means something for Columbus.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: In net Tuesday

Greaves will guard the road cage against the Flyers on Tuesday, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports.

Greaves has been locked in this month -- he's 3-0-0 with an outstanding .968 save percentage and a 1.00 GAA across three April appearances. The 24-year-old will look to continue his strong play as Columbus is still battling with Montreal for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Greaves turned aside 37 of 39 shots in his lone career appearance against Philadelphia last season, which was a 6-2 win.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Wins third straight start

Greaves stopped 29 of 30 shots in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Capitals.

Greaves has started in each of the Blue Jackets' last three games and has been excellent, winning all three and allowing two or fewer goals each time. The 24-year-old isn't expected to maintain this pace over a prolonged stretch, but with only two games left in Columbus' regular-season schedule and a playoff berth at stake, Greaves might remain as the starter for Tuesday's contest at Philadelphia solely based on how good he's been of late. During that three-game stretch, Greaves has posted a 1.00 GAA and an excellent but unsustainable .968 save percentage.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Records first career shutout

Greaves stopped all 22 shots he faced in Saturday's 7-0 win over the Capitals.

With the Blue Jackets needing to win out to have any hope of catching the Canadiens for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference, coach Dean Evason stuck with the hot hand in Greaves, who made his second start since being promoted from AHL Cleveland. The 24-year-old netminder came through with his first career shutout -- albeit against a Caps squad that was giving Alex Ovechkin the day off. Greaves has allowed two goals on 63 shots in his two starts, and with Elvis Merzlikins (undisclosed) unavailable and potentially having played his last game in Columbus, Greaves might be right back between the pipes Sunday in a rematch with Washington. The Jackets' other goaltending option, Daniil Tarasov, hasn't won a game since March 9.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Starting again Sunday

Greaves will defend the road net against Washington on Sunday, per Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site.

Greaves is coming off a 22-save performance in Saturday's 7-0 shutout win over the Capitals. With Elvis Merzlikins (upper body) unavailable, Greaves will get the nod again in Sunday's rematch. The 24-year-old Greaves has a 4-2-2 record with a 2.37 GAA and a .921 save percentage in eight NHL appearances this season. Washington is tied for first in the league with 3.54 goals per game in 2024-25.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Facing Capitals

Greaves will defend the home cage versus Washington on Saturday, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports.

Greaves was sharp Thursday in a 3-2 win over Buffalo, stopping 39 shots. The 24-year-old netminder is 3-2-2 with a 2.71 GAA and a .914 save percentage in seven NHL starts this season. The Capitals are generating a league-leading 3.59 goals per game in 2024-25.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Impressive in Thursday's win

Greaves made 39 saves in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Sabres.

Buffalo jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, but Greaves shut the door the rest of the way and gave his squad a chance to mount a comeback. The win was the 24-year-old goalie's first in the NHL since Jan. 11. Since the Blue Jackets' playoff hopes are hanging by a thread in addition to Elvis Merzlikins battling an undisclosed injury, coach Dean Evason may elect to see if Greaves can help spark a miracle finish to what's already been an improbable season. Columbus sits six points back of Montreal for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference, with each team having four games left on its schedule.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Starting Thursday

Greaves will protect the home goal versus the Sabres on Thursday, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports.

Greaves was called up under emergency conditions Thursday to cover for the absence of Elvis Merzlikins (undisclosed). At the NHL level this season, Greaves is 2-2-2 with a 2.83 GAA and a .905 save percentage, though he'll have his hands full with a Sabres team that has scored 24 times during a five-game winning streak.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Back in NHL

Greaves was recalled from AHL Cleveland on an emergency basis Thursday, according to Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site.

Elvis Merzlikins was the first goaltender off the ice at practice Thursday but has been ruled out with an undisclosed injury, leaving Daniil Tarasov as Thursday's probable starter with Greaves as his backup. Greaves is 2-2-2 with a 2.83 GAA and a .905 save percentage in six NHL starts this season.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Sent back to AHL

Greaves was assigned to AHL Cleveland on Saturday.

Greaves joined the Blue Jackets on an emergency basis for Friday's 6-3 loss to Columbus because Daniil Tarasov (illness) was unavailable. With Greaves returned to the minors, Tarasov could be available to be Elvis Merzlikins' backup versus the Islanders on Monday.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Back with big club

Greaves was called up from AHL Cleveland under emergency conditions Thursday.

Greaves' recall suggests there may be another issue with the Blue Jackets' goaltending depth. Elvis Merzlikins was recently away from the team to tend to a personal matter, but he returned to action for Thursday's 1-0 overtime loss to the Panthers. The Blue Jackets play again Friday in Pittsburgh, so more information may be available prior to that contest.
