Top Jet Greaves News

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: First win in almost month

Greaves made 24 saves in a 4-3 overtime win over the Ducks on Tuesday.

Greaves hadn't won since Nov. 20 -- he had rung up a 0-4-3 record since that date. Still, the talented netminder continues to impress, racking up an 8-8-5 record with a 2.76 GAA and .905 save percentage in 20 starts. Greaves has assumed the starter's role in Columbus, and we don't think he'll look back.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: In goal Tuesday

Greaves will get the starting nod at home versus the Ducks on Tuesday, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports.

Greaves will make his fifth straight appearance in the crease despite being mired in a seven-game losing streak. During his winless run, the 24-year-old backstop is 0-4-3, even with a solid 2.82 GAA and .904 save percentage. Considering Greaves' performances don't seem to be the problem for the Jackets, he will likely continue to feature ahead of Elvis Merzlikins.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Suffers another defeat

Greaves stopped 22 of 25 shots in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Golden Knights.

Greaves was beaten once in the second period and twice in the final frame, and the 24-year-old netminder has lost in each of his last four starts. Over that stretch, he's allowed three or fewer goals each time, so the Blue Jackets are clearly slumping on offense. Greaves owns a 2.49 GAA and a .922 save percentage during his four-game losing skid, numbers that show he's been much better than what his record indicates.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Tending twine Saturday

Greaves will patrol the home crease against Vegas on Saturday, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports.

Greaves has gone 0-3-3 in his last six appearances while surrendering 16 goals on 172 shots. He holds a 7-7-5 record this season with a 2.74 GAA and a .907 save percentage through 19 outings. Vegas ranks 14th in the league with 3.07 goals per game this year.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Needed in relief against Sens

Greaves was stuck with the loss Thursday, turning aside 21 of 23 shots after replacing Elvis Merzlikins late in the first period of a 6-3 defeat at the hands of Ottawa.

Greaves was the better of the two Columbus netminders on the night, but the first goal he allowed after replacing Merzlikins wound up being the game-winner. Greaves has taken three straight losing decisions despite allowing just six goals on 91 shots (.934 save percentage) during that span, and he's 0-3-3 over his last six appearances even though he's posted a respectable 2.78 GAA and .907 save percentage. Merzlikins has a woeful 5.20 GAA and .837 save percentage over his last six outings, so Greaves needs only some consistent offensive support to lock down the top job in the Columbus crease.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Extends losing streak

Greaves stopped 27 of 30 shots in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Hurricanes. The fourth goal was an empty-netter.

Greaves was beaten once in the second period and three times in the final frame, as the Blue Jackets couldn't hold on to their lead. Greaves has been in a major slump and hasn't won a start since Nov. 20, when he earned the W against the Maple Leafs. Since then, he's gone 0-2-3 with a 2.78 GAA and a .905 save percentage. The record and the five-game slump certainly look worse than his peripherals.

Greaves will protect the road net Tuesday against Carolina, per Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site.

Greaves turned in a solid performance Sunday against Washington, stopping 36 of 37 shots, but he didn't receive any offensive support en route to a 2-0 loss. He hasn't earned a win since Nov. 20 in Toronto, as he's 0-1-3 with a 2.70 GAA and a .907 save percentage over his last four outings. The Hurricanes are coming off a 4-1 loss to the Sharks on Sunday and have scored exactly one goal in three of their last four games, a span in which they are 2-2-0.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Gets no help in loss

Greaves stopped 36 of 37 shots in Sunday's 2-0 loss to the Capitals. Washington's second goal was scored into an empty net.

Greaves was great, but Logan Thompson did a little better in protecting the opposite net. This was Greaves' fourth straight loss (0-1-3), and he's allowed 11 goals on 118 shots in that span. Elvis Merzlikins didn't exactly dominate in starting three straight games, so the door should be open for Greaves to maintain a good share of playing time. On the year, the 24-year-old Greaves is 7-5-5 with a 2.71 GAA and a .907 save percentage through 17 starts this season. The Blue Jackets' next game is a tough one on the road versus the Hurricanes.

The 24-year-old hasn't been able to bail out the Blue Jackets from their third-period struggles, but he also hasn't lost a game in regulation since Nov. 5 versus the Flames. Greaves dropped to 7-4-5 with a 2.81 GAA and a .901 save percentage through 16 starts after this poor outing. The Blue Jackets have a tough road game up next when they visit the Devils on Monday to begin a four-game week.

Greaves stopped 22 of 24 shots in Wednesday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Maple Leafs.

Greaves was outstanding in the first two periods but allowed two goals after the Blue Jackets opened the scoring. He has lost two straight overtime contests and has three defeats in his last five starts, but the numbers are better than the record might indicate. It's worth noting he hasn't lost a game in regulation since Nov. 5, going 4-0-4 with a 2.60 GAA and a .903 save percentage over his last eight outings.

He's been solid over his last seven starts, going 4-0-3 with a 2.71 GAA and a .901 save percentage. He faced Toronto on the road last Friday and turned aside 27 of 29 shots (.931 save percentage) en route to a 3-2 overtime victory.

Greaves made 29 saves in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Red Wings.

The Blue Jackets took a 3-1 lead midway through the third period on a Zach Werenski tally, but Greaves couldn't deny a late rally by the home side, which got capped by Alex DeBrincat's winner 1:50 into the extra frame. Greaves has still gone seven straight starts without a regulation loss, posting a 4-0-3 record with a .901 save percentage over that stretch as he seizes control of the top job in the Columbus crease.

With Columbus heading into a back-to-back, Elvis Merzlikins will be between the pipes for Tuesday's road game versus the Jets.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Bright spot in loss

Greaves made 31 saves on 32 shots in Saturday's 2-1 shootout loss to the Rangers.

Despite the loss, Greaves picked up second star of the game honors for his strong performance, allowing just one power-play goal in the second period prior to giving up a pair of successful shootout attempts. Across 11 games this season, the 24-year-old netminder has a 5-4-2 record with a 2.80 GAA and a .904 save percentage. After alternating starts with Elvis Merzlikins to begin the season, Greaves has started each of the last four contests. Greaves has been hit-or-miss in that stretch, twice allowing one goal or fewer and twice surrendering four or more. The ascendant Greaves is a solid stash in standard formats and has the volume to start in deeper fantasy leagues. His next chance to start is Monday against Montreal.
