Foerster missed time in training camp while getting back to 100 percent after dealing with an elbow infection that required a procedure. The 23-year-old winger has filled a third-line role to start 2025-26, and he's earned an assist in each of the first two games. He's added five shots on net and a plus-2 rating. Foerster should probably still be considered questionable heading into Thursday's preseason game against Washington, but at least he is trending in the right direction. Assuming the 23-year-old winger is cleared ahead of Opening Night against the Panthers on Oct. 9, he should fill a top-six role while seeing minutes with one of the power-play units. Look for him to challenge for the 30-goal threshold this year after racking up 25 in 81 regular-season games last season.

Foerster suffered his elbow injury at the IIHF World Championship, which raised doubts regarding his availability to start the season with the Flyers. Once given the all-clear, the winger could push for a top-six role, especially given the lack of experienced depth at forward. Barring a significant drop off in his production, Foerster should be capable of reaching both the 25-goal and 40-point thresholds this year, marks he hit in 2024-25.

Flyers' Tyson Foerster: Uncertain for start of season
Foerster sustained an injury and a subsequent infection in his elbow while representing Team Canada at the IIHF World Championship, and his status for training camp is up in the air, Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports Tuesday.
Foerster's unclear status could leave the Flyers without one of their top players early in the season. The winger is currently in a wait-and-see mode regarding the infection, which is where the doubt about his status comes from. The Flyers' forward depth is still a bit lackluster, but Trevor Zegras or Owen Tippett could be candidates for larger roles if Foerster begins 2025-26 on the shelf.

His first put the Flyers up 1-0. Foerster skated through the crease and roofed a backhand under the crossbar on a second-period power play. Foerster lit the lamp just under five minutes into the second period off a feed from captain Sean Couturier.
