  • Penguins' Hendrix Lapierre: Inks two-year contract

Lapierre signed a two-year, $2.6 million contract with the Penguins on Friday. Lapierre produced 16 points over 74 appearances with the Capitals in 2025-26. He was dealt to the Penguins on June 25 as the Capitals needed to shed commitments following their aggressive retooling prior to the draft. The 24-year-old forward will be in contention for bottom-six minutes in 2026-27, but he may not play on an everyday basis.

  • Penguins' Hendrix Lapierre: Headed for Steel City

Lapierre was traded to the Penguins from the Capitals on Thursday in exchange for a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick. Lapierre will be a restricted free agent July 1, and Washington already has over $50 million committed to its forward group, which doesn't include a new deal for Alex Ovechkin if he returns. Selected with the 22nd overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, the 24-year-old Lapierre will likely be viewed as a reclamation project for the Penguins, especially considering he managed just four goals and 12 assists in 74 regular-season games last year. Even with having to give the Quebec native a new contract this summer, it's likely a low-risk move for the Penguins to bet on Lapierre having a career resurgence with a change of venue.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Nets goal Saturday

Lapierre scored a goal in Saturday's 5-4 shootout win over the Golden Knights. Lapierre has a goal and an assist over the last two contests. He opened the scoring at 6:06 of the first period Saturday. The 24-year-old has four goals, 15 points, 51 shots on net, 41 hits, 20 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating over 69 appearances this season. Lapierre is seeing steady time as the Capitals' fourth-line center, but fantasy managers can likely find better production on the wire in most formats.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: One of each Monday

Lapierre scored a goal and recorded an assist in Monday's 7-3 win over Calgary. Lapierre put the Capitals on the scoreboard Monday with a goal less than three minutes into regulation before he later picked up a secondary assist in the third. With the pair of points, he is up to three goals, nine assists, 48 shots on net and 37 hits across 60 games this season. While he doesn't have the high-end scoring needed for most fantasy formats, his recent run of three points over his last four games is an encouraging sign for the 24-year-old, fourth-line center moving forward.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Healthy scratch Saturday

Lapierre will be a healthy scratch Saturday after missing Thursday's game versus Toronto with an illness, Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports. Head coach Spencer Carbery will go with the same lineup as Thursday, when they shut out the Maple Leafs 4-0. Lapierre has five assists, 22 hits and 24 shots on goal over 32 appearances this season. He could return to the lineup Sunday in Detroit.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Late scratch Thursday

Lapierre is a late scratch Thursday versus Toronto due to an illness, according to Sammi Silber of The Hockey News. Lapierre has five assists, eight PIM, 24 shots and 22 hits in 32 appearances in 2025-26. Bogdan Trineyev is set to draw into the lineup as a member of the fourth line because of Lapierre's absence.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Sent down Sunday

Lapierre was sent down to AHL Hershey on Sunday, Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports. Lapierre has appeared in 27 games with the Caps this year, totaling eight assists, though it appears he'll be the odd man out when Lars Eller (illness) returns. Lapierre has been a healthy scratch in two of Washington's last five contests.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Supplies helper Saturday

Lapierre managed an assist in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Devils. Lapierre assisted on a Matt Roy goal in the first period. The Capitals have played 11 times in November, and Lapierre has been a scratch four times, so it doesn't look like he has the full trust of head coach Spencer Carbery. He was in the lineup over winger Jakub Vrana in Saturday's game -- part of the issue with Lapierre's play in 2024-25 has been his 35.8 percent win rate at the faceoff dot, but he won't be needed as a center following the Capitals' trade for Lars Eller. Lapierre has three assists, 13 shots on net, nine blocked shots and a minus-5 rating over 14 appearances, and his path to more playing time may come as a middle-six winger.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Gathers assist in loss

Lapierre logged an assist in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Penguins. Lapierre has two helpers over four games since he was a scratch for two contests. The 22-year-old is stuck in a third-line role, and that's unlikely to allow him to put up steady offense over long stretches. Those two assists are all he's put up for points so far, and he's added 11 shots on net, nine blocked shots, five hits, four PIM and a minus-4 rating over 11 appearances. Lapierre can be ignored in redraft formats for now, but dynasty managers should hold on with patience.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Losing playing time

Lapierre was scratched for the second game in a row when he sat out Thursday's 6-3 win over the Canadiens. Lapierre won a middle-six job out of training camp, but he went minus-5 with no points over his first seven games of the season. He took four PIM in Saturday's 3-0 loss to the Lightning and has since been scratched for two contests in a row, with Michael Sgarbossa taking his place in the lineup. Lapierre should get another look eventually, but he'll need to make some sort of positive impact when he draws back in to avoid being rotated out of the lineup on a regular basis. He had 22 points in 51 regular-season outings in 2023-24, so this slow start is a bit disappointing.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Nets goal in season-ending loss

Lapierre scored a goal on two shots, added four hits and blocked two shots in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Rangers in Game 4. Lapierre carved through the Rangers' defense to score on his own rebound in the second period, ending an 18-game goal drought. His impressive solo effort tied the game at 2-2, but the Capitals were unable to pull ahead and ultimately lost the game and the first-round series. The 22-year-old center took some strides in 2024-25 with eight goals, 14 assists, 51 shots on net and a minus-1 rating in 51 regular-season outings as well as two points over four playoff games. Lapierre's likely to have a full-time NHL role in 2024-25.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Dishes helper Tuesday

Lapierre registered an assist and three shots during Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Sabres. Since garnering regular playing time following the trade of Evgeny Kuznetsov to the Hurricanes, Lapierre has been a steady contributor for the Capitals with six goals and 12 points in his last 18 games. The 22-year-old is an important piece in Washington's long-term plans and his late-season success should be enough for him to earn a full-time NHL role for the 2024-25 season.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Back in NHL

Lapierre was recalled from AHL Hershey on Friday. Lapierre was sent to the minors earlier in the day to keep him eligible for the AHL playoffs. He has six goals and 13 points in 30 outings with Washington this season.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Assigned to AHL

Lapierre was assigned to AHL Hershey on Friday, according to PuckPedia. Lapierre has been on fire recently, racking up four goals and six points over his last six games with the Capitals. The 22-year-old will almost certainly be back up with the big club ahead of Saturday's matchup with Chicago, but he needed to be sent down temporarily in order to be eligible for the AHL playoffs.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Two helpers against Philly

Lapierre collected two assists in Friday's 5-2 win over the Flyers. The 22-year-old rookie also chipped in two shots on net, two blocked shots, two hits and a plus-2 rating while winning 11 of 19 faceoffs. Both of Lapierre's points came in the second period to spark a Caps' rally from an early 2-0 deficit. Since getting recalled from AHL Hershey in late February, he's delivered three goals and five points in three games. He isn't seeing any shifts on the power-play yet, but it may only be a matter of time before his role increases.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Scores twice Monday

Lapierre scored a pair of goals in Monday's 6-3 win over the Senators. Drawing into the lineup for the first time since Jan. 18, Lapierre extended Washington's lead to 5-3 early in the second period before adding a second tally later in the frame, finishing a give-and-go with Anthony Mantha. It's the first career multi-goal effort for the 22-year-old Lapierre, who now has four goals and nine points through 26 games this season. He should hang onto a bottom-six role while Nic Dowd (upper body) and T.J. Oshie (upper body) remain sidelined.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Recalled Friday

Lapierre was summoned from AHL Hershey on Friday, according to Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press. Lapierre has two goals and seven points in 25 contests with Washington this season. He'll provide the Capitals with forward depth while T.J. Oshie (lower body) and Nic Dowd (upper body) are unavailable.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Reassigned Saturday

Lapierre was reassigned to AHL Hershey following Saturday's 2-1 shootout loss to the Lightning. Lapierre played Saturday, but didn't record a point. He has five points through 14 outings this season and should remain near the top of list for call-ups when the Capitals need a forward.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Two points in OT win

Lapierre produced a goal and an assist in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Islanders. The 2020 first-round pick opened the scoring midway through the first period by ripping a one-timer past Semyon Varlamov from the slot. Lapierre has been bouncing between the AHL and NHL rosters this season, and while he has two multi-point performances in his last eight games for Washington, the 21-year-old was held scoreless in the other six. Lapierre saw a team-low 9:00 of ice time Wednesday, but he could earn a more consistent shift as the Capitals juggle a number of injuries to their forward ranks.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Recalled from minors

Lapierre was recalled from AHL Hershey on Tuesday. The Capitals appear to be stockpiling reserves ahead of the upcoming holiday roster freeze with Sonny Milano (upper body), T.J. Oshie (lower body) and Max Pacioretty (achilles) currently on the mend. The 21-year-old has one goal and three points in 11 games with the Capitals this season.
