Husso stopped 13 of 19 shots in Thursday's 10-0 preseason loss to the Sharks.
The Ducks brought their most of AHL roster for this contest, aside from Husso, who is projected to be the NHL backup. The game went about as expected, with Husso getting no help in the ugly loss. Laurent Brossoit didn't do much better, allowing four goals on eight shots, so this isn't likely to change the pecking order for starts. Expect Lukas Dostal to operate as the starter in 2026-27 with Husso serving as backup as long as he can produce passable numbers.

Ducks' Ville Husso: Set to start
Husso will protect the road goal in Thursday's preseason game versus the Sharks, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.
Husso is set for his first start of the preseason. He's projected to be the backup to Lukas Dostal to begin the 2026-27 campaign. Husso went 10-8-2 with a 3.25 GAA and an .884 save percentage over 20 regular-season outings in 2025-26.

Ducks' Ville Husso: Draws in for relief outing
Husso stopped 17 of 19 shots in relief of Lukas Dostal in Friday's 6-2 loss to the Golden Knights in Game 3.
Husso played the final two periods and gave up the last two goals of Mitch Marner's hat trick. The Golden Knights also had an empty-netter in the third. Husso has stopped 27 of 30 shots over two relief appearances this postseason. After the game, head coach Joel Quenneville didn't commit to a starting goalie for Sunday's Game 4, Zach Cavanagh of The Sporting Tribune reports, so it's possible Husso will get a start. In any case, it appears Dostal is on a short leash, which could lead to a switch in the crease if Game 4 goes poorly for the Ducks.

Ducks' Ville Husso: Makes relief appearance
Husso stopped 10 of 11 shots in relief of Lukas Dostal in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Oilers in Game 5.
Husso made his first playoff appearance since 2022, when he went 2-5 with a 3.67 GAA and an .890 save percentage over seven games for the Blues. The 31-year-old was brought in to spark the Ducks after a sluggish start to this contest. Husso isn't likely to see much additional playing time this postseason as long as Dostal stays healthy. Husso will get the start even though the Ducks still have positioning to play for. A three-goal second period for the Flames was the difference. Husso didn't do well despite facing a low shot volume. He's allowed 16 goals on 102 shots over his last four games, going a surprising 2-1-1 in that span. Husso is down to 9-8-2 with a 3.21 GAA and an .887 save percentage across 19 appearances. The Ducks haven't gotten great work out of Lukas Dostal lately, but they may need to ride with their No. 1 for the week ahead, which features no back-to-back sets.
