  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: Stays warm with goal

Montour scored a goal on two shots in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Rangers.

Montour has three goals and a helper over his last two games. The 31-year-old defenseman's tally in the second period was ultimately enough for the Kraken to force overtime for the second game in a row. Montour is up to three goals, eight points, 20 shots on net, 15 blocked shots, 10 hits and a plus-6 rating across seven appearances. He should continue to be a strong source of offense in a top-four role with power-play usage.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: Fuels comeback effort

Montour scored twice on four shots, added an assist, logged two hits, blocked two shots and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Canadiens.

This was Montour's second game back after he took of leave of absence to be with his family due to the death of his brother. The defenseman put together a masterful third period Tuesday, helping the Kraken earn a standings point as he accumulated his three points in less than 10 minutes to force overtime. Montour is at two goals, five assists, 18 shots on net, 14 blocked shots, 10 hits and a plus-6 rating through six appearances this season. He plays in all situations and can offer all-around production for fantasy managers, though his offense is bound to cool off as the year progresses.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: On non-roster list

Montour (personal) was added to the non-roster list Monday, per the NHL media site.

Montour is away from the team for a personal matter, having missed Saturday's matchup with the Maple Leafs. Based on this move, Montour probably shouldn't be expected to play in the Kraken's back-to-back against the Flyers or Capitals on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.

Montour (ankle) is tracking well and expected to be ready for Opening Night, The Sound of Hockey reports Sunday.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: Considered day-to-day

Head coach Lane Lambert said Thursday that Montour (ankle) is considered day-to-day, Alison Lukan of the Kraken Hockey Network reports.

Montour had a bursa removed from his ankle in early September. The Kraken announced Sept. 17 that he was expected to miss approximately two weeks, and he's trending in the right direction heading into the second half of training camp. It's not yet clear when the defenseman will be able to return to game action, but it seems possible that he'll be able to suit up early in the regular season.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: Undergoes minor procedure

The Kraken announced Wednesday that Montour had a bursa removed from his ankle earlier in September and is expected to miss two weeks.

Montour will be sidelined for at least the first half of training camp, though he may still have the time to get into a game or two late in the preseason. With Montour out, look for Ryker Evans to get more power-play looks during exhibition games. If Montour's recovery takes longer, Josh Mahura would be a candidate to step into the lineup.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: Completes successful season

Montour scored a power-play goal on five shots and went minus-2 in Tuesday's 6-5 loss to the Kings.

While the Kraken were nothing special in 2024-25, Montour played well in his first year with the team. Through Tuesday's games, he ranks fourth among all NHL defensemen with 18 goals, and he was sixth among all Kraken skaters in goals and points (41). Still, he ended the year a little cold with just two goals over his last 13 contests. He added a total of 231 shots on net, 100 blocked shots, 84 hits, 70 PIM and a minus-22 rating over 81 appearances this season. Montour signed a seven-year deal last summer, so he'll be a key part of the Seattle blue line for quite some time.
