Oliver Kylington: Signs with Swedish side
Kylington signed a one-year contract with Djurgardens IF of the SHL on Saturday, per the team's official site.
Kylington attended training camp with Carolina on a professional tryout agreement before being released at the end of September. Unable to find another NHL club to play for, the 28-year-old defenseman decided to return to his native Sweden for the remainder of the season.

Oliver Kylington: Released from tryout
Kylington was released from his professional tryout by the Hurricanes on Tuesday.
Kylington has struggled to secure full-time opportunities in the NHL since missing the entire 2022-23 season, appearing in just 52 regular-season games over the last two years. Still, the 28-year-old blueliner should find an interested NHL team out there somewhere if he is willing to accept a two-way contract.

Hurricanes' Oliver Kylington: Signs with Carolina
Kylington signed a professional tryout agreement with the Hurricanes on Wednesday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Kylington has spent seven seasons in the NHL, playing 220 games between the Flames and Ducks. He's totaled 18 goals, 42 assists, 225 blocked shots and 117 hits. However, he had a much more limited impact during the 2024-25 campaign, logging just one goal, four assists and 18 blocked shots while averaging 12:18 of ice time over 19 appearances. He'll have an opportunity to compete for a roster spot with the Hurricanes this fall.

Ducks' Oliver Kylington: Chips in with helper
Kylington logged an assist in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Flames.
Kylington's helper was his first point with the Ducks since he was traded from the Islanders just before the deadline. The 27-year-old blueliner saw just 8:44 of ice time Wednesday, and he'll be at risk of losing his place once Jacob Trouba (lower body) returns. Kylington is at five points, six shots on net, 18 blocked shots, eight PIM and a minus-2 rating over 19 appearances between the Ducks and the Avalanche in 2024-25, and he's unlikely to see anything more than third-pairing usage.

Ducks' Oliver Kylington: Gaining playing time
Kylington was in the lineup for the third game in a row in Monday's 3-2 win over the Oilers.
Kylington was a healthy scratch for the first seven games he was with the Ducks after being traded twice March 6 from the Avalanche to the Islanders and then ultimately Anaheim. He's since played in five of the last nine contests, though he doesn't have a point with the Ducks yet, while adding two shots on goal and three blocked shots. Kylington will likely continue to play as long as Jacob Trouba (lower body) is unavailable. Kylington will be a free agent this summer, but with just four points over 18 appearances, he may have to settle for a two-way deal if he wishes to stay in North America.

Ducks' Oliver Kylington: Immediately traded again
Kylington was traded to the Ducks from the Islanders on Thursday in exchange for future considerations.
Kylington's tenure as an Islander lasted all of 15 minutes after he was packaged from the Avalanche as part of the return for Brock Nelson. It appears the Islanders were not interested in keeping him around -- they already have eight healthy blueliners on the roster, and Mike Reilly (chest) is expected to be back before the end of the season. Kylington will have a much better chance of getting into the lineup in Anaheim than he did in Colorado or he would have on Long Island, especially after the Ducks dealt Brian Dumoulin to the Devils earlier Thursday. Kylington has four points through 13 NHL appearances this season.

Islanders' Oliver Kylington: Heading north
Kylington, Calum Ritchie, a conditional first-round pick and a conditional 2028 third-round selection were acquired by the Islanders from Colorado on Thursday in exchange for William Dufour and Brock Nelson.
Kylington has a goal and four points over 13 appearances with the Avalanche in 2024-25. The defenseman has been a frequent healthy scratch in Colorado, and he might continue to struggle to draw into the lineup with the Islanders.

Avalanche's Oliver Kylington: Rare contribution on offense Friday
Kylington logged two assists and blocked three shots in Friday's 5-2 win over the Wild.
Kylington played in his fourth game since being activated from injured reserve following a two-month absence due to an upper-body injury. The 27-year-old blueliner has filled in on the second pairing lately while Josh Manson (lower body) is unavailable. Kylington has gotten on the scoresheet in just two of his 12 outings this season, but both have been multi-point performances. He has a goal, three assists, two shots on net, 13 blocked shots and a minus-2 rating.

Avalanche's Oliver Kylington: Activated Monday
Kylington (upper body) was removed from injured reserve Monday.
Kylington could make his return to the lineup for the first time since Nov. 27 against the Golden Knights, a stretch of 31 games on the shelf due to his upper-body injury. Still, even with Kylington taken off IR, he is far from a lock to play on a nightly basis and may have to settle for a spot in the press box as a healthy scratch periodically.

Avalanche's Oliver Kylington: Expected to play before break
Kylington (upper body) is expected to return to action before the Avalanche play their last game before the break Feb. 7 against Edmonton, per Aarif Deen of Colorado Hockey Now.
Kylington has been out of action since Nov. 27. He has one goal and two points across eight appearances this season. He should see some action as a third-unit blueliner, possibly replacing Sam Malinski in the lineup.

Avalanche's Oliver Kylington: Set to miss three-game road trip
Kylington (upper body) isn't expected to join the Avalanche on their upcoming three-game road trip, which begins Saturday in Boston, Evan Rawal of the Denver Gazette reports Thursday.
Kylington is also expected to miss Colorado's games against the Rangers on Sunday and the Islanders on Tuesday. The Avalanche will return home to host St. Louis on Jan. 31. Kylington, who hasn't been in the lineup since Nov. 27, has a goal and an assist in eight appearances in 2024-25.

Avalanche's Oliver Kylington: Lands on injured reserve
Kylington (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, retroactive to Nov. 27.
Kylington was labeled month-to-month Saturday, so he shouldn't be considered anywhere close to a return. Oskar Olausson was called up from AHL Colorado to take the open roster spot.

Avalanche's Oliver Kylington: Considered month-to-month
Kylington (upper body) is not progressing in his recovery and is considered month-to-month, Ryan Boulding of NHL.com reports.
Kylington has not yet been placed on injured reserve, but he could land on the IR list when Jonathan Drouin (upper body) is able to return. Boulding adds Kylington is not doing much activity, so he should not be considered close to a return. Even when healthy, he may not be able to make the lineup on a regular basis.

Avalanche's Oliver Kylington: Deemed week-to-week
Head coach Jared Bednar said Monday that Kylington (upper body) is considered week-to-week, Bailey Curtis of The Hockey News reports.
Bednar said after Saturday's game against Edmonton that Kylington was considered day-to-day, but the defenseman now appears to be in line to miss more time. The Avalanche are on the brink of beginning a week-long road trip that starts Tuesday in Buffalo, and it wouldn't be surprising to see Kylington sidelined for all five of those road matchups.

Avalanche's Oliver Kylington: Not ready to return
Kylington (upper body) isn't available for Saturday's game against Edmonton, per Evan Rawal of the Denver Gazette.
Kylington also missed Friday's 5-3 loss to Dallas. He doesn't always draw into the lineup, but he probably would have played Saturday if available because Josh Manson (upper body) is also on the shelf. John Ludvig is set to draw into the lineup for the first time since Nov. 9 because of the Avalanche's injuries on the blue line.

Avalanche's Oliver Kylington: Suffers undisclosed injury
Kylington sustained an undisclosed injury during Wednesday's 2-1 shootout win over Vegas and won't play Friday versus the Stars, Evan Rawal of the Denver Gazette reports.
While the Avalanche are in Dallas, Kylington is being evaluated in Denver. The 27-year-old defenseman has a goal and an assist in eight appearances in 2024-25. When Kylington is healthy, he'll be in the mix for a spot on the third pairing.

Avalanche's Oliver Kylington: Shows up on scoresheet
Kylington scored a goal on two shots, added an assist and went plus-2 in Saturday's 7-4 win over the Panthers.
Kylington missed time earlier in the season due to an illness, but he's also struggled to get in the lineup when healthy. He's primarily competed for a third-pairing spot that is usually filled by Calvin de Haan, though Kylington has now played in three straight games. Kylington's two points Saturday were his first scoring contributions of the season, and he's added two shots on net, two hits, six blocked shots and a minus-2 rating over seven outings. Without more offense, the 27-year-old won't be an option in most fantasy formats.
