Canadiens' Mike Matheson: Nets goal in overtime loss
Matheson scored a goal and blocked two shots in Monday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Hurricanes in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Matheson picked up his first point of the series when he tied the game at 1-1 in the first period. The defenseman has been fairly limited on offense this postseason with two goals, two assists, 20 shots on net, 20 hits, 45 blocked shots and 18 PIM over 17 contests. He continues to fill a top-four role while generating most of his production in the non-scoring areas.

Canadiens' Mike Matheson: Scores game-winner Friday
Matheson scored the game-winning goal Friday in the Canadiens' 5-1 victory over the Sabres in Game 2 of their second-round series.
The veteran defenseman picked the top corner on Alex Lyon from long range early in the first period to give his squad a 2-0 lead. It was Matheson's first goal of the playoffs and just his second point in nine games this postseason, as he's mainly left the offensive duties on the Habs' blue line to Lane Hutson. Matheson will look to build on this performance in Game 3 on Sunday as the series shifts to Montreal.

Canadiens' Mike Matheson: Set for postseason
Matheson (rest) was back at practice Thursday after missing the final regular-season game Tuesday, per Eric Engels of Sportsnet.
Matheson had seven goals, 30 assists, 59 hits and 150 blocked shots in 78 regular-season games in 2025-26. He should see plenty of playing time in the playoffs, as a first-unit defenseman. He averaged 24:10 of ice time this season, the most among Montreal rearguards.

He has seven goals, 29 assists, 143 blocks, 106 shots and 55 hits in 71 games this campaign. Matheson's 62-point outburst in the 2023-24 regular season was purely situational. His 36 points this season are the second-best effort of his career.
