  • Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Extends point streak

Tavares produced a goal on five shots, an assist and three hits in Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Blue Jackets. Tavares set up Dakota Mermis' first goal of the season in the latter stages of the second period before finding the back of the net in the third frame with a wrister. This was Tavares' 12th goal of the campaign, and the veteran playmaker also extended his point streak to four games, tallying three goals and three assists over that stretch. The 35-year-old veteran has been excellent of late with 13 points (six goals, seven assists) in 10 games since the beginning of November.

  • Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Helps out on game-winner

Tavares recorded an assist and fired four shots on goal in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Blues. Tavares made a tremendous effort to pick up the secondary helper on Tuesday's game-winning goal, as he held off all three Blues' players on the ice while Toronto made changes. Once new personnel were on the ice, he back-heeled the puck to Morgan Rielly, who set up William Nylander for the game-winner. With the helper, the 35-year-old Tavares has 14 assists, 25 points and 60 shots on net through 20 games this season. Through the first quarter of the season, he is on pace for the first 100-point campaign of his 17-year NHL career. However, he has yet to top 90 points in a campaign, and it would be a tall task to continue his current pace toward the century mark. Regardless, he has played the top-line center role admirably in the absence of Auston Matthews (lower body) and will be an elite option in fantasy for the rest of the season.

  • Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Five goals in last five games

Tavares scored twice Thursday in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Kings. Both goals were Tavares' bread and butter -- net-front snipes. The first was a tap-in between Darcy Kuemper's pads; the second was a backhand past the netminder's outstretched left pad and off the post. Tavares has five goals (seven points) in his last five games and 11 goals, 12 shots and 53 shots in 18 games this season. At this rate, he's on pace for his first triple-digit season at age 35.

  • Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Another multi-point effort

Tavares recorded an even-strength goal and a power-play assist in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Hurricanes. Tavares recorded both of his points toward the end of the first period. He netted his ninth goal of the campaign at the 15:31 mark with a snap shot and later assisted William Nylander's power-play goal with 59 seconds left in the frame. Tavares has 21 points (nine goals, 12 helpers) across 16 games this season and remains a highly productive player for Toronto while skating on the second line alongside Nicholas Robertson and Bobby McMann.

Tavares notched a power-play goal in a 5-3 loss to the Bruins on Saturday. Tavares went high blocker on Jeremy Swayman from the slot. He has three points, including two goals, in his last three games and 19 points (eight goals, 11 assists) in 15 games on the season. Tavares picked up two assists in a 5-2 win over Philadelphia on Saturday. Tavares is on a six-game, nine-point scoring streak that includes five goals. • Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Scores 500th career goal

Tavares scored the 500th goal of his career, added four shots on net, logged two hits and went minus-3 in Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Blue Jackets. Tavares became the 49th member of the NHL's 500-goal club with his tally in the third period, though that only cut the deficit to 6-2 at the time. The poor result for the team makes this a bittersweet milestone for the 35-year-old center, but he still has plenty of gas left in the tank. He's on a six-game point streak with five goals and four assists in that span, giving him six goals, 14 points, 31 shots on net, 11 hits and a plus-1 rating through 11 outings this season.

  • Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Keeps climbing record books

Tavares scored the game winner in a 4-3 overtime victory over the Sabres on Saturday. He also added an assist. The points extended his streak to four games and seven points (four goals, three assists). Tavares took a stretch pass from Matthew Knies, broke in on net and fired a shot over Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen's blocker from the slot. It was Tavares' 499th career goal and his 19th overtime tally, which ties him with Leon Draisaitl and Jaromir Jagr for fourth in NHL history. Only Alex Ovechkin (27), Sidney Crosby (24) and Brad Marchand (21) have more extra-session tallies. Tavares needs one point to move into sole possession of 63rd on the all-time list. He's currently tied with Joe Nieuwendyk and Mike Bossy (1,126 points).

  • Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Tied for team lead in goals

Tavares had a goal and an assist in a 5-2 loss to New Jersey on Tuesday. The first goal was pure hand-eye excellence -- Tavares swatted a rebound out of the air at the top of the goal crease using his lacrosse skills. He sits tied with Auston Matthews for the team lead in snipes with four, and he's second in team scoring with nine points in seven games. At 35, Tavares is still a star.

Tavares scored two goals in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to Seattle. Tavares reached 500 points in his 521st regular-season game with Toronto on Saturday. • Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Big three-point effort in win

Tavares had a goal and two assists in a 7-4 win over Nashville on Tuesday. The line of JT, William Nylander and Matias Maccelli drove a lot of the game Tuesday. Tavares put the Leafs up 3-2 near the midpoint of the second frame when he jammed in the rebound of Nylander's shot at the top of the slot. The 35-year-old has not slowed down this season -- he has a goal and four helpers in four games.

  • Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Two helpers in Wednesday's win

Tavares notched two assists in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Canadiens. The 35-year-old helped set up Bobby McMann for the Leafs' first goal of the season exactly one minute into the first period with a faceoff win, then chipped in on a William Nylander empty-netter late in the third. Toronto's Core Four is now a Big Three since Mitch Marner is in Vegas, but Tavares' role as the No. 2 center behind Auston Matthews shouldn't change much.

  • Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Inks four-year extension

Tavares agreed to a four-year, $17.52 million contract with Toronto on Friday, Darren Dreger of TSN reports. Tavares wanted to remain in Toronto and will do so with a hometown discount as his $4.38 million AAV is well below what he likely could have received on the open market. Tavares had a big year in 2024-25, scoring 38 times while adding 36 assists across 75 regular-season appearances. He was without a point in eight of his last nine playoff games, managing five goals and seven points in 13 postseason contests. Tavares will likely wind up as the second-line center in Toronto, behind Auston Matthews.

  • Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Ends drought with two goals

Tavares scored two goals, including one on the power play, in Friday's 5-4 overtime loss against the Panthers in Game 3. He also recorded six shots on goal, two hits and one blocked shot. Tavares ended a four-game drought without a point by finding the back of the net in the first and second periods, but his contributions weren't enough to lift Toronto to what would've been a 3-0 series lead. The 34-year-old playmaker has five goals and seven points through nine appearances this playoffs while also racking up 29 shots, 12 hits and nine blocked shots. He's been deadly as a power-play threat, with four of his seven points (three goals, one helper) coming with the man advantage.

  • Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Third goal of postseason

Tavares scored a goal in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Senators in Game 4. It was his third goal (five points) in four games this postseason. Tavares is building on his 34-goal, 74-point regular season, and he will reap the benefits this offseason as a free agent. But before then, the Leafs will reap the benefits as they strive toward hoisting the Cup in June.

  • Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Four points in last two games

Tavares scored a goal and added an assist Tuesday in a 3-2 overtime win over the Senators. Tavares has been outstanding so far this postseason with two goals and two assists in two outings. His goal Tuesday came on the power play midway through the first period to put the Leafs up 2-0. Tavares fired a shot from the bottom of the right face-off circle that banked in off a Sens defender's skate at the top of the crease. He now has 50 points, including 25 goals, in 64 postseason games in his career.

Tavares scored a goal on six shots, added an assist and logged three hits in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Senators in Game 1. Tavares' power-play goal at 4:07 of the second period stood as the game-winner. He also set up a William Nylander tally a few minutes later. Tavares was resurgent on offense with 38 goals and 74 points over 75 regular-season outings, though he was a little quieter with five points over eight games to begin April. He'll spend the bulk of his time on the second line while also playing on the first power-play unit, putting him in a good position to rack up points.

He has 10 goals in his last eight games, and the Leafs have five games remaining. Tavares has every opportunity to hit 40 goals this season.
