David Bruton: Announces retirement
Bruton announced Monday that he has retired from professional football, Ben Swanson of the Broncos' official site reports.
A fourth-round pick of the Broncos in 2009, Bruton spent seven of his eight NFL seasons in Denver, playing a key reserve role in the secondary and serving as a special teams ace during the team's run to the championship in Super Bowl 50. He latched on with the Redskins in 2016, playing in four games before suffering a season-ending concussion, the sixth documented one since he entered the NFL. With Bruton citing his long-term health as a top priority, he'll walk away from the game and finish his career with 190 total tackles, three interceptions and two sacks in 108 games (12 starts).

Redskins' David Bruton: Placed on IR
Bruton (concussion) was placed on IR on Wednesday, Master Tesfatsion of the Washington Post reports.
Bruton was diagnosed with a concussion after Sunday's game, and it's unclear how severe the injury was, but regardless, he's unlikely to play again this year. The team signed Donte Whitner as a replacement shortly before placing Bruton on IR.

Redskins' David Bruton: Enters concussion protocol
Bruton entered the NFL's concussion protocol on Monday.
Bruton will need to pass a series of tests before being allowed back on the field. Through four games, the Notre Dame product sits second on the team in tackles and would be a tough loss if he can't play in Week 5, considering the Redskins are already down starting CB Bashaud Breeland (ankle) and FS DeAngelo Hall (knee).
