DeAngelo Hall: Retiring from football
Hall announced Monday that he is retiring from professional football, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
With the announcement, Hall officially ends a historic 14-year NFL career, with each of the last nine seasons coming as a member of the Redskins. Hall finishes his career with 43 interceptions, five of which were returned for touchdowns, 11 forced fumbles and 15 fumble recoveries.

Hall suffered a bruised knee after playing just 21 snaps in the Week 10 loss to the Vikings. The Redskins will likely evaluate Hall during pregame warmups Sunday before rendering a decision on his status.

Redskins' DeAngelo Hall: Dealing with bone bruise
Hall (knee) sustained a bone bruise in Sunday's loss to the Saints, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Hall left Sunday's game after playing only 21 snaps and later underwent an MRI exam. The bruise diagnosis is great news for the veteran cornerback, playing only his second game of the season after tearing his ACL in September 2016. There is currently no timetable for his return, and the Redskins could be forced to make a move if Hall and fellow safety Montae Nicholson (shoulder) are forced to miss any more time.

Hall hurt his knee Sunday against the Vikings and is questionable to return, Master Tesfatsion of The Washington Post reports.
Hall sat out of the first half of the season due to a knee injury, so if this is related, it's not a good sign. The veteran safety was able to make five tackles (four solo) and two pass breakups against the Seahawks in Week 9, and he leaves behind just two healthy safeties in his absence.

Redskins' DeAngelo Hall: Returns from PUP list
The Redskins activated Hall (knee) from the Physically Unable to Perform list on Friday, Brian McNally of the Richmond Times-Dispatch reports.
Hall has been eligible to be activated for a little more than a week, but with Stefan McClure (hamstring) on injured reserve and Montae Nicholson nursing a shoulder injury, the timing is right for the Redskins. It's unclear exactly what role the 33-year-old will have in Washington's secondary, but the veteran presence should be a welcome sight in what has been an injury-plagued unit.

Redskins' DeAngelo Hall: Back at practice
Hall (knee) resumed practicing Oct. 19 and could be activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list within the next two weeks, Rich Tandler of NBC Sports Washington reports.
Hall, who was originally placed on the PUP list at the start of training camp, was first eligible to return to the active roster Oct. 23. With Montae Nicholson (shoulder) dealing with an injury and uncertain to play Sunday against the Seahawks, the Redskins could be prepared to bring Hall back as soon as the weekend to provide the team with more depth in the secondary. With only two healthy safeties on the roster, Hall's return would represent a welcome development.

The veteran corner has been battling this knee injury since the beginning of training camp. Because of his designation, Hall will be unable to return until Week 7, but being placed on PUP instead of injured reserve is a reason for optimism.

Hall has been on the preseason PUP since the start of training camp, and Dr. James Andrews still doesn't believe the veteran corner is ready to make his return to the field. If he does start the regular season on the PUP, Hall wouldn't be eligible for reinstatement until after Week 6.

Hall (knee) will open Redskins training camp on the preseason Physically Unable to Perform list, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Hall is still working his way back from a torn ACL he sustained last September, so it's not surprising that he'll remain limited when camp begins. In recognition of his advancing age and troublesome injury history, Hall agreed to restructure his contract to remain with the Redskins in 2017, but it remains to be seen how effectively he'll be able to play coming off a major setback. The Redskins likely have him pegged for a backup role at free safety after signing D.J. Swearinger to a three-year deal in March.
