  • Ravens' Tyler Loop: Named kicker for 2025

Coach John Harbaugh said after Saturday's 31-13 preseason victory at Dallas that Loop is the Ravens' kicker for the 2025 campaign, Clifton Brown of the team's official site reports.

Baltimore used a sixth-round pick on Loop in this year's draft, seemingly with the intent to replace long-time kicker Justin Tucker, who was released not long after and eventually suspended 10 games. Loop was vying with undrafted rookie John Hoyland during the offseason program and the early stages of training camp, but the latter was waived on Aug. 2, leaving Loop as the sole kicker on the Ravens' roster since then. Loop has responded by connecting on six of eight field-goal attempts through two preseason contests and now is locked in as the team's placekicker moving forward.

  • Ravens' Tyler Loop: Accurate at training camp

Loop made all six of his field-goal attempts during Baltimore's training camp session Wednesday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN reports.

Loop has gotten off to a hot start since the Ravens selected him in the sixth-round of this this year's draft, as he was impressive during the rookie minicamp as well. He is competing for the team's starting kicker spot with rookie undrafted free-agent John Hoyland, who made four of his five field-goal attempts during Wednesday's practice.

  • Ravens' Tyler Loop: Impresses coach at minicamp

Coach John Harbaugh was impressed by what he saw of Loop during the Ravens' rookie minicamp, Clifton Brown of the team's official site reports.

"It was good to see it. It was good to hear it," Harbaugh noted of rookie sixth-rounder's kicking during the minicamp. "I think as much as anything, it's good to hear a kicker, and the way the ball comes off his foot is impressive." Following the release of Justin Tucker on Monday, Loop -- who was first kicker drafted in the Ravens' 30-year history, per Jamison Hensley of ESPN -- appears poised to assume the team's placekicking duties, though look for depth at the position to be added, with Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic noting that Baltimore is expected to sign UDFA John Hoyland (Wyoming).

  • Ravens' Tyler Loop: Selected by Baltimore

The Ravens selected Loop in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 186th overall.

Loop spent his collegiate career at Arizona and regularly showcased his leg strength, making eight of 13 kicks from beyond 50 yards in the last two seasons. He also excelled on kickoffs, delivering 53 touchbacks on 56 opportunities. The pick could indicate some concern about long-time kicker Justin Tucker, who has struggled on longer field goals in recent seasons and also faces off-field uncertainty.
