Top LaJohntay Wester News

  • Ravens' LaJohntay Wester: Limited to specialty role

Wester gained 16 yards on a punt return and went without a target while playing four of the Ravens' 43 snaps on offense in Sunday's 44-10 loss to the Texans.

A rookie sixth-round pick out of Colorado, Wester has logged just nine snaps at receiver through the Ravens' first five contests. He'll likely continue to handle a light role on offense while providing most of his value to the Ravens as the team's top option on punt returns.

  • Ravens' LaJohntay Wester: Adds to case for roster spot

Wester caught both of his targets for 28 yards in Saturday's preseason win over Washington, adding one carry for five yards and a punt return for three yards.

There was already talk that the rookie sixth-round pick locked up a roster spot when he returned a punt 87 yards for a touchdown in the preseason opener. A strong showing on offense in the final preseason game isn't likely to help Wester earn Week 1 wideout snaps, but he's at last headed for a roster spot and a role on special teams.

  • Ravens' LaJohntay Wester: Returns punt for TD

Wester returned a punt for an 87-yard touchdown and caught two of three passes for a team-high 41 yards in Thursday's preseason opener against Indianapolis.

Wester had 2,099 receiving yards over his final two collegiate seasons, but as a rookie sixth-round pick in a deep offense, he'll probably need to make his mark in the return game initially. He may have already earned his roster spot, with the standout performance Thursday coming on the heels of positive reports out of Ravens training camp. The team does have other options for returns, however, including Tylan Wallace, Jaire Alexander and Keaton Mitchell.

  • Ravens' LaJohntay Wester: Lands in Baltimore

The Ravens selected Wester in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 203rd overall.

Wester was a longtime contributor at Florida Atlantic before linking up with Colorado for his final season. He caught 26 touchdowns over his final three years in college, including a career-high 10 in 2024 while also posting a career high in yards per target (9.9). Wester is small and speedy at 5-foot-9 and 170 pounds with a 4.46 40. He can function on short routes or make plays deep down the field. Wester wins in similar ways to fellow Raven Zay Flowers and could occupy that type of role in a pinch. As it stands, though, Wester has a big hill to climb to see playing time in Baltimore. Wester's ability in the return game is likely his best path to seeing the field early in his career.
