Cowboys' Broderick Jones: Moved to Cowboys
The Steelers traded Jones and a future fourth-round draft pick to Dallas on Saturday in exchange for future third- and sixth-round picks, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Pittsburgh selected Jones in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, but he's yet to make much of an impact as a pro. Dallas elected to take a chance on his pedigree and was willing to give up draft capital in return. The Cowboys have some question marks at tackle, so Jones could get a chance to provide valuable depth at the position if he makes a positive impression.

Jones (neck) has been cleared to participate in training camp, Mark Kaboly of 93.7 The Fan Pittsburgh reports.
Jones suffered a neck injury in Week 12 that kept him out for the rest of the 2025 season. The 25-year-old's return makes for an interesting competition at Pittsburgh's tackle positions. With Troy Fautanu presumably locked in at one of the tackle spots, the other starting role will likely come down to Jones or Max Iheanachor, whom Pittsburgh drafted No. 21 overall in the 2026 NFL Draft. Given the team declined to pick up Jones' fifth-year option, his future on the roster could be in doubt if he's unable to win the starting job.

Jones (neck) is "feeling fine" and back around the Steelers for OTAs, Michael Baca of NFL.com reports.
Jones suffered a neck injury in the Steelers' Week 12 loss against the Bears last season, one that required a spinal fusion surgery the veteran offensive tackle is still recovering from. Considering the Steelers selected offensive tackle Max Iheanachor in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, Jones, once healthy, may need to compete for a job that he previously appeared to have a solid grasp on.

Pittsburgh is declining Jones' (neck) fifth-year option, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Jones would have been paid $19.1 million for 2027 if the Steelers had picked up the option, but instead his rookie contract will end after this coming season. Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports that Pittsburgh's decision to decline the option was influenced by Jones' neck injury, which cut his season short early last year and may prevent him from being ready for training camp -- and potentially Week 1 of the regular season -- in 2026. When Jones has been healthy he's played well, and he started 37 of the 38 regular-season games in which he appeared over the past two campaigns.
