Ravens' Trenton Simpson: Career-high 10 tackles in loss
Simpson registered 10 tackles (four solo), including 1.0 sacks, during Sunday's 44-10 loss to the Texans.
Simpson made his second start of the season at inside linebacker due to the absence of Roquan Smith (hamstring). Simpson was on the field for 66 of 70 defensive snaps (94.3 percent) and logged double-digit tackles for the first time in his three-year NFL career. The 2023 third-rounder also recorded his first sack of the season late in the third quarter after taking down C.J. Stroud for a nine-yard loss. Simpson is up to 21 tackles (11 solo) through the first five games of the regular season.

Ravens' Trenton Simpson: Loses starting job in 2024
Simpson finished the 2024 regular season with 73 tackles (40 solo), including 1.5 sacks, four pass defenses and one fumble recovery across 17 games.
Simpson started the regular season as the Ravens' second starting inside linebacker alongside Roquan Smith. Simpson was fairly productive over Baltimore's first 11 games, accumulating 65 tackles (34 solo) over that span. However, his defensive snap count took a noticeable dip in Week 12, which coincided with more playing time for Malik Harrison and Chris Board. Simpson was completely out of the Ravens' inside-linebacker rotation following the Week 14 bye, and he was limited to special teams during Baltimore's two-game postseason run. The 2023 third-round pick will use the offseason to re-tool his skill set and look to earn his starting job back for the 2025 campaign.

Ravens' Trenton Simpson: Season high in tackles Sunday
Simpson recorded nine total tackles (seven solo), including 1.0 sacks and an additional tackle for loss, while also defending one pass in Sunday's 41-10 win over the Broncos.
The second-year linebacker from Clemson has continued to improve in his first season as a starter, with the best game of his career coming in Week 9. Simpson played 100.0 percent of Baltimore's defensive snaps for just the second time this season and was all over the field, recording one of five sacks on Bo Nix and finishing as team's second-leading tackler. Expect Simpson to continue starting alongside Roquan Smith as part of the Ravens' top inside-linebacker duo ahead of Thursday night's matchup against the Bengals.

Ravens' Trenton Simpson: Brings pressure in Week 1 loss
Simpson tallied five tackles (two solo), a half-sack and one pass defensed during Thursday's 27-20 loss to the Chiefs.
Simpson played 70 percent of Baltimore's defensive snaps Week 1, which is a larger workload than he handled at any point in his rookie season last year. The 2023 third-round pick is worth monitoring in all IDP formats considering the value that Baltimore's starting inside linebacker position has proven capable of providing. Simpson will look to take advantage of a plus matchup against the Ravens in Week 2.

Ravens' Trenton Simpson: In line for major role
Simpson is expected to start next to Roquan Smith at inside linebacker for the Ravens this season, Giana Han of The Baltimore Banner reports.
Simpson only played 46 snaps on defense during his rookie campaign in 2023, but he did manage to record a sack and recover a fumble while doing so. The departure of Patrick Queen to the Steelers left a hole next to Smith at linebacker, and the Clemson product appears to be the leading candidate to fill it. With expectations of earning the role, the second-year pro has been studying tape of Queen while also forming a tighter bond with Smith. "I've definitely seen Trent take that jump this year. He's flying around, man," head coach John Harbaugh said. "He's running. He's making plays. He's confident. He's a quick learner."

Ravens' Trenton Simpson: Cleared to return versus Rams
Simpson (concussion) was a full participant in Friday's practice and does not carry an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Rams.
Simpson missed the last three games after sustaining a concussion in Week 10 against the Browns. His return will bolster the Ravens' inside linebacker depth behind starters Roquan Smith and Patrick Queen.
