  • Domenique Davis: Joins Bengals' practice squad

Davis was signed to the Bengals' practice squad Wednesday.

Davis was waived by the team on Tuesday, ultimately returning to the Cincinnati's practice unit one day later. The defensive lineman failed to appear in a game during the preseason while dealing with an undisclosed injury, and he'll look to impress with the practice squad in order to potentially be elevated to the active roster down the road.

  • Bengals' Domenique Davis: Week-to-week with injury

Head coach Zac Taylor told reporters Thursday that Davis is considered week-to-week with an undisclosed injury, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.

It's not clear what is ailing Davis, but the 28-year-old defensive tackle is unlikely to play in Saturday's preseason opener against the Buccaneers. It could also keep him from playing against the Bears on Aug. 17, which would significantly decrease Davis' chance at making the Bengals' 53-man roster at the conclusion of training camp.

  • Domenique Davis: Gets look with Steelers

Davis tried out with the Steelers on Monday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Davis most recently played in the USFL as a member of the Houston Gamblers and tallied 57 tackles with 3.5 sacks. He left Pittsburgh without a deal, though he could be a candidate to join the team as depth along the defensive line during training camp.

  • Domenique Davis: Goes unclaimed on waivers

Davis passed through waivers unclaimed Friday after the Jets cut him with a failed physical designation Thursday, according to the NFL's transaction log.

An undrafted rookie out of UNC-Pembroke, Davis spent the post-draft part of the offseason with the Jets until he reported, when he failed his entry physical. He'll focus on getting healthy with the hope another NFL team comes calling.
