Jonathan Ward: Back with New England
The Patriots signed Ward to the practice squad Tuesday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Ward was cut from New England's practice squad last week, but with Rhamondre Stevenson (toe) and Terrell Jennings (knee) banged up, Ward is back to provide some depth at running back.

Jonathan Ward: Being released from practice squad
New England released Ward from its practice squad Tuesday.
In a corresponding transaction, the Patriots signed wide receiver Brenden Rice to their practice squad. Ward's stint with the team lasted just one week, and now he'll have to start seeking another opportunity elsewhere.

Jonathan Ward: Catches on with New England
The Patriots signed Ward to the practice squad Tuesday.
Ward was unable to make the Giants' 53-man roster at the end of training camp but will get a new opportunity with the Patriots as a member of the practice squad. Terrell Jennings has been elevated by the Patriots to the active roster three times, which is the maximum amount a team can do. As such, Ward and Rushawn Baker would be candidates for a game-day elevation if the Patriots require added backfield depth behind Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson.

Jonathan Ward: Dumped by G-Men
The Giants released Ward on Tuesday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
Ward rushed 13 times for 47 yards and caught seven passes for 80 yards and two touchdowns during the preseason. The 27-year-old could be a candidate to join the practice squad in New York.

Giants' Jonathan Ward: Shines as runner, receiver Thursday
Ward tallied 29 yards on six carries and caught two of three targets for 45 yards and a touchdown in a 42-10 exhibition win against the Patriots on Thursday.
New York rested top back Tyrone Tracy and veteran backup Devin Singletary for the team's preseason finale, giving Ward a chance to get more reps. Ward did well with the opportunity, notching the team's longest run by a running back (13 yards) and averaging 4.8 YPC on his six rushes. He also scored a 41-yard receiving TD on a screen pass from Tommy DeVito late in the third quarter. With Tracy, Singletary, Cam Skattebo and Dante Miller all likely ahead of Ward on the Giants' RB depth chart, there doesn't seem to be room for the latter on the team's initial 53-man roster. However, Ward may have earned a spot on the Giants' practice squad with his solid performance Thursday.

Giants' Jonathan Ward: Latches on with Giants
Ward is signing with the Giants on Monday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
The Giants liked what they saw from Ward in a workout Monday morning and wasted little time in adding him to the roster. The 27-year-old running back has appeared in 46 regular-season NFL games, including four with the Steelers in 2024, but has only 22 carries for 91 yards and six catches for 52 yards and one touchdown on eight targets in his career. Ward will provide depth in a banged-up backfield that's dealing with injuries to Cam Skattebo (hamstring), Eric Gray (undisclosed) and Rushawn Baker (knee).

Jonathan Ward: Getting released
Pittsburgh released Ward on Thursday.
The Steelers moved Ward between their practice squad, their active roster and free agency during last season, but for now he's back to being unrestricted. With his departure, Trey Sermon, Cordarrelle Patterson and Evan Hull might see their odds of making Pittsburgh's final 53-man roster tick up slightly.

Steelers' Jonathan Ward: Getting another opportunity
Ward signed a reserve/future contract with the Steelers on Monday.
Ward initially joined Pittsburgh's practice squad at the end of August after not being able to make the 53-man roster out of training camp. The 27-year-old then shuttled between the active roster, practice squad, and free agency. He ultimately appeared in four regular-season games for the Steelers this season, finishing with five carries for 22 yards.

Jonathan Ward: Staying in Pittsburgh
The Steelers signed Ward to the practice squad Friday.
Ward was signed to the Steelers' active roster Nov. 16, but he was waived by Pittsburgh on Wednesday after being a healthy scratch in each of the last three games. He'll stick around on the practice squad, though he's unlikely to be elevated to the active roster unless one of Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren or Cordarrelle Patterson miss time due to injury.

Steelers' Jonathan Ward: Won't play vs. Cleveland
Ward (coach's decision) is inactive for Thursday night's game against the Browns.
The Steelers signed Ward to the 53-man practice squad Nov. 16, but he will be a healthy scratch for a second straight game. Ward could suit up in Week 13 against the Bengals on Sunday, Dec. 1 if one of Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren or Cordarrelle Patterson were to be sidelined.

Steelers' Jonathan Ward: Added to 53-man roster
The Steelers signed Ward to the 53-man roster Saturday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Ward appeared in four games for Pittsburgh earlier this season, rushing five times for 22 yards. He'll provide depth and insurance for the Steelers behind Najee Harris and Cordarrelle Patterson should Jaylen Warren (back) -- who is listed as questionable -- be unable to play Sunday against Baltimore.

Jonathan Ward: Joining Steelers' practice squad
Pittsburgh signed Ward to its practice squad Tuesday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Pittsburgh opted to cut Ward from its active roster less than a week ago, but now he's headed back to the practice squad. As long as Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren and Cordarrelle Patterson are available, his path to time with the active roster will be relatively narrow.
