Bills' Jackson Hawes: Another quiet game Thursday
Hawes accrued zero targets during Thursday's 41-31 victory over Detroit.
Hawes started Thursday and played in 37 of the team's 74 offensive snaps, adding seven on special teams. However, the 25-year-old went without a catch (or target) for a second consecutive game. Hawes finished the 2025 campaign with 16 catches for 187 yards and three touchdowns in 17 regular-season games. Although there's a chance he will find the end zone this season, he'll likely have an uphill battle doing much more than blocking while Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox are healthy ahead of him.

Bills' Jackson Hawes: No output in box score Week 1
Hawes didn't record any offensive snaps during Buffalo's win over the Texans on Sunday.
Hawes was in the starting lineup alongside both Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox but served mainly in a blocking capacity, as he failed to record any targets across 25 offensive snaps. The 25-year-old also saw eight snaps on special teams and should continue to see similar usage going forward unless either Kincaid or Knox is forced to miss time.

Bills' Jackson Hawes: Talked up by Allen
Hawes drew some praise from Josh Allen for his pass-catching skills Thursday, Alex Brasky of SI.com reports.
"Everyone thinks of Jackson as the blocking tight end," Allen said. "He has some nuance to his receiving game. His hands are better than people give him credit for. He stays quiet, makes plays." Across 17 regular-season appearances last season, Hawes played 487 offensive snaps and was asked to block on 384 of those. On 103 routes, Hawes caught 16 of his 19 targets for 187 yards and three touchdowns. While Allen credited Hawes for his receiving acumen, the tight end isn't expected to be a featured player in the Buffalo passing game this season.

Bills' Jackson Hawes: Not targeted in loss to Broncos
Hawes was not targeted during Buffalo's 33-30 divisional-round overtime loss to Denver on Saturday.
Hawes went untargeted in the Bills' playoff loss while fellow tight ends Dalton Kincaid (6-83-1) and Dawson Knox (3-32-0) both had multiple grabs. A rookie fifth-round pick, Hawes proved to be an impactful blocker, and while suiting up for all 17 regular-season games, he also managed a respectable 16-187-3 line (19 targets) despite operating as the clear No. 3 option at the position behind Kincaid and Knox. Kincaid is locked in as Buffalo's top pass-catching TE for 2026 and beyond, but Knox carries an exorbitant cap hit next season and will be a candidate to either restructure his deal this offseason or be cut, potentially paving the way for Hawes to handle increased opportunities.

Bills' Jackson Hawes: No targets in wild-card win
Hawes wasn't targeted during Sunday's 27-24 wild-card game win over the Jaguars.
Hawes played 35 percent of offensive snaps compared to 48 percent for Dawson Knox and 44 percent for Dalton Kincaid. Despite the similar playing time, Hawes was far less involved in the passing game, as each of Buffalo's other two tight ends notched three catches. Hawes will continue to fill a role as a highly effective blocker in the AFC divisional round against the Broncos.

Bills' Jackson Hawes: One catch in blowout win
Hawes caught his only target for no gain during Sunday's 35-8 win versus the Jets.
As usual, Hawes was used only sparingly in the passing game in Week 18, trailing in targets at tight end behind both Keleki Latu (3) and Dawson Knox (2). Hawes's 22 snaps at tight end were second on the team to Latu's 48, but that was likely due to Buffalo's decision to rest some of its more valuable players. In the wild-card round at Jacksonville and potentially beyond, the Bills will probably continue to lean on Hawes as part of a committee at tight end along with Knox and 2023 first-rounder Dalton Kincaid, with Hawes deployed primarily in-line.
