Texans' Ajani Carter: Reverts to IR
Carter (knee) reverted to Houston's injured reserve list Tuesday, per NFL Communications.
Carter was waived/injured by the Texans on May 21, but after going unclaimed on waivers, he's reverted to IR. The Houston product underwent arthroscopic knee surgery last week but should be able to return at some point during the 2026 season, per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston. Carter appeared in just two regular-season games during the Texans' 2025 campaign, handling 36 special-teams snaps.

Ajani Carter: Waived with injury tag
The Texans waived/injured Carter (hamstring) on Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Carter ended his rookie season on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury, and it's uncertain if his current injury is related. Regardless, the 25-year-old cornerback will land on injured reserve if he isn't claimed on waivers. Carter played two games for the Texans last year and stuck to special teams.

Texans' Ajani Carter: Remaining on IR
Carter (hamstring) will remain on Houston's injured reserve for the rest of the campaign, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Carter's season is officially over after his 21-day window to be activated off injured reserve expired. The 25-year-old had been sidelined since the Week 12 win over Buffalo due to a hamstring injury and will now shift his focus to getting healthy for the 2026 campaign.

Texans' Ajani Carter: Won't play in wild-card round
Carter (hamstring) has been ruled out for Monday's wild-card matchup versus the Steelers.
The 25-year-old was designated to return from IR on Dec. 23rd, but he's now been ruled out for the third game in a row. If the Texans advance, they will need to activate Carter by Tuesday or else he'll revert to injured reserve for the remainder of the postseason.
