  • Cowboys' Jonathan Mingo: Makes return from IR

The Cowboys activated Mingo (knee) from injured reserve Tuesday. Though Mingo closed this past week as a full practice participant, the Cowboys chose not to activate him from IR ahead of Sunday's eventual 44-22 win over the Commanders. The wideout looks to be fully recovered from the PCL sprain of his right knee he sustained in an Aug. 16 preseason game, and with his 21-day evaluation window nearing its end, the Cowboys have now added him back to the 53-man roster. Mingo should be available for this Sunday's game in Denver, but it's not clear if the Cowboys will make him active for the contest with fellow wideouts CeeDee Lamb and KaVontae Turpin having recently returned from multi-game absences due to injury.

  • Cowboys' Jonathan Mingo: Expected to be activated this week

Coach Brian Schottenheimer said Monday that Mingo (knee) will be activated from injured reserve this week, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports. Mingo was designated for return from injured reserve Oct. 1, so the Cowboys had to make a decision on his status this week before his 21-day window closes. Upon his return, Mingo will join a loaded wide-receiver room that includes CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, KaVontae Turpin, Ryan Flournoy and Jalen Tolbert. Mingo is unlikely to have any fantasy value unless there are injuries ahead of him.

  • Cowboys' Jonathan Mingo: Remaining on IR

Mingo (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Commanders and will remain on injured reserve. Mingo earned the questionable tag for Week 7 after logging a full practice Friday, but the third-year wideout hasn't progressed enough in his recovery to return from a PCL sprain in his right knee that he sustained during the preseason in mid-August. Mingo's 21-day window to be activated from injured reserve opened Oct. 1, and he would be forced to remain on IR for the rest of the season if the Cowboys don't activate him prior to the window closing. Mingo's next opportunity to make his 2025 regular-season debut is Week 8 against the Broncos on Sunday, Oct. 26.

  • Cowboys' Jonathan Mingo: Chance to play Week 7

Mingo (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Commanders, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports. Mingo ended the week strong with a full practice Friday, and the third-year wideout has a chance to make his 2025 debut Sunday. Even if he does return, Mingo would likely work in a rotational role in the Cowboys' offense, given that CeeDee Lamb (ankle) and KaVontae Turpin (foot) have both been cleared to play in Sunday's NFC East tilt.

  • Cowboys' Jonathan Mingo: Won't play Week 6

Mingo (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Panthers. Mingo was not on the field for practice Thursday or Friday, and the third-year wideout will not make his 2025 regular-season debut against the team that drafted him in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Mingo will remain on injured reserve for at least one more week, and his next chance to play will be Week 7 against the Commanders on Sunday, Oct. 19.

  • Cowboys' Jonathan Mingo: Officially questionable for Week 6

Mingo (knee) did not practice Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Panthers, Clarence Hill Jr. of AllDLLS.com reports. Mingo ended the week with back-to-back DNPs after practicing in a full capacity Wednesday. Given his lack of practice to end the week, it appears the third-year wideout is trending toward not playing against the team that selected him in the 2023 NFL Draft. If Mingo is in fact ruled out for Sunday's game, his next opportunity to make his 2025 regular-season debut will be Week 7 against the Commanders on Sunday, Oct. 19.

  • Cowboys' Jonathan Mingo: Upgrades to full practice

Mingo (knee), who remains on IR, was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports. Mingo had his 21-day practice window opened last Wednesday and logged a trio of limited practices before being ruled out for Week 5, but he's now practicing without restrictions. That seemingly sets the stage for Mingo to be activated from IR and make his regular-season debut ahead of Sunday's road game against the Panthers. With CeeDee Lamb (ankle) and KaVontae Turpin (foot) both candidates to miss Week 6, Mingo's return would provide the Cowboys with needed depth at the wide receiver position.

  • Cowboys' Jonathan Mingo: Not ready to return

The Cowboys are not in line to activate Mingo (knee) from IR ahead of Sunday's game against the Jets, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports. Mingo was designated to return from IR on Wednesday, but after a week of limited practices, the wideout's return to action remains on hold. With CeeDee Lamb (ankle) and KaVontae Turpin (foot) both sidelined this week, the Cowboys will elevate Jalen Brooks and Jalen Moreno-Cropper from their practice squad.

  • Cowboys' Jonathan Mingo: Limited in practice Wednesday

Mingo (knee) was limited in Wednesday's practice, Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. Mingo was designated for return from injured reserve Wednesday, opening his 21-day practice window. He sprained his PCL during the preseason. With CeeDee Lamb (ankle) injured, Mingo is missing out on a chance to see some playing time on offense.

  • Cowboys' Jonathan Mingo: Expected to start on IR

Mingo (knee) is expected to begin the regular season on IR due to a PCL sprain suffered during Dallas' preseason loss to Baltimore on Saturday, Todd Archer of ESPN reports. Mingo is expected to be sidelined 4-6 weeks, if not longer, due to the knee injury he picked up while hauling in a 49-yard reception in the third quarter Saturday. The third-year wideout will likely be placed on IR on Aug. 26, when the initial 53-man roster is finalized. Once healthy, Mingo will be competing for reps and targets with CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, Jalen Tolbert and KaVontae Turpin.

  • Cowboys' Jonathan Mingo: Diagnosed with PCL sprain

Mingo was diagnosed with a PCL sprain in his right knee Monday, and the third-year wideout is expected to be sidelined for 4-to-6 weeks, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports. Mingo injured his right knee during the Cowboys' preseason loss to the Ravens on Saturday. The timeline for his injury means he'll miss Dallas' regular-season opener against Philadelphia on Thursday, Sept. 4, though his absence could persist beyond Week 1 depending on how his recovery goes. With Mingo sidelined, Friday's preseason finale against the Falcons will provide Ryan Flournoy, Traeshon Holden and Jalen Brooks the opportunity to audition for the WR5 job.

  • Cowboys' Jonathan Mingo: Getting testing

Coach Brian Schottenheimer noted Monday that Mingo is in line to undergo additional tests on his knee, Jon Machota of The Athleticreports. Mingo suffered a PCL injury during Saturday's preseason game against Baltimore, and while he is slated to get further testing, Schottenheimer told reporters, "I don't think it's gonna be terribly serious." When available, the 24-year-old is looking to cement his standing in a Dallas wide receiver room that also includes CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, Jalen Tolbert and KaVontae Turpin. The 2023 second-rounder played in 17 regular games last season (nine with Carolina and eight with Dallas), finishing with a combined 167 yards on 17 receptions.

  • Cowboys' Jonathan Mingo: Dealing with PCL injury

Mingo suffered a PCL injury in his right knee during Saturday's preseason game against the Ravens, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports. Mingo will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the injury, but it sounds like Mingo could miss some time. It's a tough break for Mingo after he made a splash play, reeling in a 49-yard catch versus Baltimore one play before he was injured. Mingo is competing for a role behind CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, Jalen Tolbert and KaVontae Turpin in Dallas' wide receiver corps.

  • Cowboys' Jonathan Mingo: Two catches in Week 18 loss

Mingo caught both his targets for 24 yards in Sunday's loss to the Commanders. It's the first time in eight games for the Cowboys that Mingo caught multiple passes. A second-round pick of the Panthers in 2023, the Ole Miss product has struggled in the NFL so far, and he managed just a 17-167-0 line on 42 targets as a second-year pro over 17 appearances between Carolina and Dallas. Even on an affordable rookie contract, there's little reason to think Mingo will have a significant role in the Cowboys' passing game in 2025.

  • Cowboys' Jonathan Mingo: Set for team debut Monday

Mingo is active for Monday's game against the Texans, Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. Mingo was moved from Carolina to Dallas at the trade deadline on Nov. 5, but he understandably was held out Week 10 with only days to acclimate to a new offense. With another week of practice under his belt, he'll make his Cowboys debut Monday, but with Cooper Rush handling QB duties for Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb (back) the clear top option in the passing game, Mingo may be hard-pressed to produce. In 24 appearances with the Panthers, the 2023 second-round pick recorded 55 catches and no touchdowns on 111 targets.

  • Cowboys' Jonathan Mingo: Healthy scratch Sunday

Mingo (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Eagles. Just five days removed from getting traded from Carolina to Dallas, Mingo won't be available in his first chance with his new squad. The acclimation process could take some time, but the Cowboys also are in some limbo with QB Dak Prescott (hamstring) likely to undergo season-ending surgery. Cooper Rush is taking over for Prescott under center, and top WR CeeDee Lamb is playing through a shoulder injury, so Mingo may not have to wait long for his next game action if the team turns its focus toward the future.

  • Cowboys' Jonathan Mingo: Shipped to Dallas

The Cowboys acquired Mingo and a 2025 seventh-round draft pick from the Panthers on Tuesday in exchange for a 2025 fourth-round draft pick, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. The No. 39 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Mingo struggled to find his footing during his one and a half seasons in Carolina, turning in a 55-539-0 receiving line on 111 targets over 24 games. Though he was never a high-end producer during his time in college at Ole Miss, Mingo was a coveted pre-draft prospect thanks to his good size (6-foot-2, 220 pounds) as well as the intriguing athleticism he displayed at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine (4.46-second 40-yard dash time, 39.5-inch vertical leap). The Cowboys are hoping that a change in scenery will help Mingo unlock some of his potential, but his immediate outlook isn't promising with Cooper Rush slated to take over at quarterback for Dak Prescott (hamstring) in the short term. Mingo will slot in behind at least CeeDee Lamb and Jalen Tolbert on Dallas' depth chart at receiver, but he could push 2023 seventh-round pick Jalen Brooks for the No. 3 role.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Struggles again in Week 5

Mingo caught two of his five targets for 37 yards in Sunday's 36-10 loss to the Bears. Mingo tied Ja'Tavion Sanders for the second-most targets on the team and saw increased snaps in the second half while Xavier Legette (shoulder) was sidelined during Sunday's loss. However, it didn't lead to increased production, as the second-year wideout was able to haul in just two of his five targets. If Legette is forced to miss Carolina's Week 6 matchup against the Falcons, Mingo could have a chance to break out and serve as the Panthers' No. 2 wide receiver.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Struggles in Week 1

Mingo caught two of his five targets for 40 yards and rushed once for three yards during Sunday's 47-10 loss to the Saints. Mingo's sophomore campaign got off to a rocky start, as the 2023 second-round pick fumbled his first touch on an end-around in the second quarter. He rebounded fairly well, as Mingo caught two passes for 40 yards in the second half, including a 35-yard reception that helped set up Carolina's only touchdown. Despite finishing second on the Panthers in receiving yards, Mingo played just 33 offensive snaps, fewer than Adam Thielen (41), Diontae Johnson (39) and Xavier Legette (35). Even if Mingo takes a step forward in 2024, his ceiling appears limited by a Carolina offense that struggled badly in Week 1.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: First catch of preseason

Mingo recorded one catch (on one target) for four yards in Saturday's 15-12 preseason loss to the Jets. None of Diontae Johnson (groin), Xavier Legette or Adam Thielen suited up, which left Mingo as one of the starting receivers. The Panthers made a clear effort to get him the ball early, as he tallied a four-yard catch prior to having an 18-yard gain negated by an offensive pass interference penalty on the first drive. Mingo had a very disappointing rookie season in 2023, and he's likely to begin the new campaign as the team's third or fourth receiver.
