Week 9 NFL Picks: Jaguars At Raiders

Fantasy News

  • Jaguars' Jarrian Jones: Season-high 10 tackles in win

Jones recorded 10 tackles (six solo) and one pass breakup in the Jaguars' win over the Raiders on Sunday. With Travis Hunter (knee) injured, the Jaguars settled on a cornerback trio of Greg Newsome, Montaric Brown and Jones against Las Vegas. Jones matched his season-high with 47 defensive snaps against the Raiders, and his 10 tackles easily marked a new career-best mark for the second-year cornerback. Jones has posted 19 tackles (15 solo) and a pair of pass breakups across eight appearances, and one start, this season.

  • Jaguars' Jarrian Jones: Cleared to play

Jones (back) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Texans. Jones has logged six tackles (six solo) and one pass breakup across 71 defensive snaps through two games to begin the season.

  • Jaguars' Jarrian Jones: Impressive rookie campaign

Jones tallied 40 total tackles, including 2.0 sacks, and eight passes defended, with one interception, across 17 games in 2024. Jones, a 2024 third-round pick from Florida State, played a significant role in Jacksonville's defense in his first season in the NFL, logging 656 defensive snaps and serving as the team's top slot corner by the end of the year. He played more than 70 percent of the Jaguars' defensive snaps in seven games this season, recording 19 total tackles and five passes defended, including one interception, during those contests. The 23-year-old likely earned a starting spot with the Jaguars' defense in 2025 with his impressive play throughout his rookie campaign.

  • Jaguars' Jarrian Jones: Suiting up Sunday

Jones (shoulder) is active Sunday against the Texans. Jones suffered the injury in Monday's loss to the Bills but has recovered enough to take the field in Week 4. He'll be handling slot corner duties against Houston.

  • Jaguars' Jarrian Jones: Ruled out

Jones has been ruled out of the remainder of Jacksonville's matchup versus the Bills on Monday due to shoulder injury, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports. Jones will be unable to return after suffering a shoulder injury during the team's first defensive possession. In his absence, Christian Braswell will likely see increased playing time.

  • Jaguars' Jarrian Jones: Leaves with shoulder injury

Jones exited Monday night's game against the Bills with a shoulder injury and is questionable to return, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports. Jones was injured on a red-zone play on the Jaguars' first defensive possession. He walked off the field under his own power and was holding his arm close to his body. Jones is the team's nickel corner.

  • Jaguars' Jarrian Jones: Jacksonville adds in third round

The Jaguars selected Jones in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 96th overall. Jones (6-feet, 190 pounds) didn't have as much hype as Florida State teammate and second-round Buffalo selection Renardo Green, but Jones was a good starting corner in his own right for the Seminoles and actually had the better athletic testing of the two players. Jones' arms are probably too short for press coverage, but his 4.38-second 40-yard dash, 39.5-inch vertical and 129-inch broad jump indicate uncommon vertical range. Jones will compete with the likes of Montaric Brown and Darnell Savage for reps behind starting corners Tyson Campbell and Ronald Darby.
