Jets' Quincy Williams: Lands on injured reserve
The Jets placed Williams (shoulder) on injured reserve Tuesday.
Williams suffered a shoulder injury during the first half of Sunday's 29-27 loss to the Buccaneers, finishing the game with four tackles (three solo), including 0.5 sacks, and one pass defense. He'll be required to miss at least the next four games, which makes Week 8 against the Bengals on Sunday, Oct. 26 the earliest he can return. With Williams and Marcelino McCrary-Ball (hamstring) both on injured reserve, the Jets will turn to Mark Robinson, Cam Jones and rookie fifth-rounder Francisco Mauigoa to serve at outside linebacker with the first-team defense.

Jets' Quincy Williams: Won't return due to shoulder injury
Williams has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Buccaneers due to a shoulder injury.
Williams suffered the injury during the first half of Sunday's game. After being evaluated in the locker room during halftime, the injury has been deemed severe enough that he won't return, and he will finish with four tackles (three solo), including 0.5 sacks. Cam Jones should see more work at outside linebacker the rest of the way due to Williams' injury.

Williams' sack came at a critical time -- he brought down Aaron Rodgers in a one-point game midway through the fourth quarter, leading to a Pittsburgh punt. The linebacker isn't typically a big part of New York's pass rush, having tallied a modest 9.0 regular-season sacks over his first four campaigns with the club. Jets' Quincy Williams: Fourth straight 100-tackle season
Williams finished the 2024 season with 2.0 sacks among his 116 tackles (74 solo), as well as four passes defensed, four forced fumbles and three fumbles recovered.
Williams posted a fourth consecutive season with at least 106 tackles and continued his strong play despite the Jets' defense taking a step back as a unit. The 28-year-old linebacker will carry a cap hit of $8.425 million in 2025 as he wraps up a three-year, $18 million contract.

The Murray State product tied Tony Adams as the Jets' second-leading tackler in Sunday's defeat, trailing just Jamien Sherwood's 17-tackle effort. Williams also posted his second double-digit tackle game of the season, bringing his totals up to 74 tackles, including 1.0 sacks, and one pass defended through 10 weeks.
