Browns' Tyson Campbell: Dealing with concussion
Campbell is in concussion protocol following Sunday's 32-13 loss to the Patriots, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
The fifth-year pro from Georgia played 44 defensive snaps and recorded five total tackles before exiting Sunday's loss with a concussion. Campbell must clear the NFL's five-step protocol before returning to the field, but he'll have additional time to rest with the Browns on a Week 9 bye. His next opportunity to take the field will come in Week 10 when the Browns face the Jets.

Campbell's practice reps were dialed back some this week, but the Browns' newest cornerback seems good to go against New England. In two games with Cleveland, Campbell has recorded seven tackles (four solo) and four pass breakups, including a pick-six interception last Sunday against the Dolphins.

Campbell logged a pick-six along with two tackles (one solo) during the Browns' 31-6 win over the Dolphins on Sunday. The 2021 second-rounder appears to have come out of that contest with a quad injury, which limited him in the first practice of the week. Campbell has two more chances to increase his practice participation and avoid an injury designation heading into Sunday's game against the Patriots.

Campbell recorded two tackles, two passes defensed and returned an interception for a touchdown in Sunday's 31-6 win over Miami in Week 7.
Campbell made a contribution for the second straight week for his new team. On the first play from scrimmage to begin the second half, Tua Tagovailoa's pass caromed into the hands of Campbell, who waltzed home for a 34-yard pick-six. In two games since being acquired by Cleveland, Campbell has seven tackles, four passes defensed, one interception and a forced fumble.

Campbell started and played 53 snaps (90 percent) in his debut for the Browns, which acquired him from Jacksonville earlier in the week. He made an impact on the game's first play, chasing down the Steelers' Darnell Washington from behind and forcing a fumble that eventually bounced out of bounds. He has a combined 39 tackles, eight passes defensed and two forced fumbles over six games.

The Browns are hoping Campbell will play a full-time role Sunday against the Steelers, per cornerbacks coach Brandon Lynch, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
Campbell was acquired Wednesday in a trade with Jacksonville. Lynch spent extra time with Campbell on Thursday, helping Campbell get up to speed on Cleveland's defensive scheme. Campbell is expected to start at outside cornerback in his Browns debut Sunday.

Browns' Tyson Campbell: Shipped to Cleveland
The Browns acquired Campbell and a 2026 seventh-round pick from the Jaguars on Wednesday in exchange for cornerback Greg Newsome (hamstring) and 2026 sixth-round pick,Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Newsome had been scheduled to become a free agent after the season, and with the Browns having yet to reach an extension with him, they opted to flip him for another cornerback in Campbell, who will be under club control through 2028 after signing a four-year, $76.5 million extension with Jacksonville last summer. Campbell should immediately step into a starting role at the boundary corner spot opposite Denzel Ward (ankle). The 25-year-old Campbell racked up 35 tackles (22 solo) and a forced fumble across five games with Jacksonville this season.

Campbell played every defensive snap in the victory and has now recorded at least seven tackles in three straight games. The 25-year-old is off to a strong start this season and is on pace to surpass his career-high 73 tackles set in 2021.

Campbell's nine tackles marked a new season-high, as he played 100 percent of the defensive snaps against San Francisco. Campbell has struggled a bit in coverage this season, allowing three touchdowns when he's the closest defender, but he's playing over 99 percent of the defensive snaps for Jacksonville and is up to 27 tackles (18 solo) and five pass breakups through four games.
