Raiders' Justin Shorter: Placed on reserve/injured list
Shorter (undisclosed) was placed on the reserve/injured list by the Raiders on Monday.
It's unclear what Shorter's injury is, but he'll have to reach an injury settlement with the Raiders to have a chance to play in 2026. A fifth-round pick of the Bills in 2023, he saw action in seven regular-season contests with Las Vegas last year, playing on five offensive snaps and 81 special-teams snaps. He has yet to record an NFL catch.

Raiders' Justin Shorter: Inks future deal with Las Vegas
The Raiders signed Shorter to a reserve/future contract Monday.
Shorter spent the first seven weeks of the season with the Raiders' active roster, failing to record any stats over five offensive snaps while also logging 81 snaps on special teams. The wide receiver was then subsequently waived and re-signed to the practice squad after Las Vegas added veteran Tyler Lockett in late October. Shorter will now have the opportunity to train with the Raiders during the offseason and potentially earn another shot with the active roster in 2026.

Justin Shorter: Let go by Las Vegas
The Raiders waived Shorter on Monday.
The move corresponds with the Raiders signing veteran wide receiver Tyler Lockett to the active roster. Shorter was signed to the Raiders' active roster in early September after initially failing to make the 53-man squad at the end of training camp, though he mostly saw the field on special teams. Assuming he clears waivers, the third-year pro will look to join a team in need of depth at special teams and wide receiver.

Raiders' Justin Shorter: Joins Vegas' 53-man roster
Shorter was signed to the Raiders' active roster from the practice squad Friday, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
Shorter played wide receiver in college at Florida but attempted to convert to tight end in the NFL. The 2024 fifth-round pick of the Bills played in 10 regular-season games with Buffalo last season but saw action almost exclusively on special teams. Now back at wide receiver, the 6-foot-5 Shorter will provide depth for the Raiders following Thursday's announcement from Amari Cooper that the veteran wideout is retiring.

Justin Shorter: Waived by Las Vegas
Shorter was waived by the Raiders on Tuesday.
Shorter was active for all three of the team's preseason contests, reeling in three catches for 22 yards. The wide receiver played in 10 regular-season games with Las Vegas in 2024, but he failed to record any offensive stats in those contests. Shorter will now be placed on waivers, and his experience last season could make him an intriguing target for the rest of the league.

He missed all of 2023 due to a hamstring injury, but he could make his NFL regular-season debut Sunday against the Rams, though it would likely be in a special-teams role, as he's listed as the fourth tight end on the Raiders' depth chart behind Brock Bowers, Harrison Bryant and John Samuel Shenker.

Justin Shorter: Finds work in Vegas
Shorter signed with the Raiders' practice squad Thursday.
It appears that Shorter is switching positions after playing wide receiver throughout college and in the NFL, as he was announced as a tight end when the Raiders signed him to their practice squad Thursday. At 6-foot-4 and 223 pounds with a 4.55 40-yard dash time, Shorter becomes a very intriguing vertical threat at TE if he can make it onto Las Vegas' active roster at any point this season.

Justin Shorter: Cut by Buffalo
The Bills waived Shorter on Tuesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Once a top recruit coming out of high school, Shorter never put it all together at Penn State and Florida before being taken in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft by Buffalo. He missed his entire rookie season with a hamstring injury and then dealt with a knee issue this summer. Shorter played 52 offensive snaps this preseason but caught just two passes for 15 yards. At 6-foot-4 and 223 pounds with 4.55 wheels, Shorter has a tantalizing blend of size and speed but has yet to realize that potential.
