Giants' Tyrone Tracy: Loses spot in backfield rotation
Tracy played only one offensive snap during the Giants' 28-6 loss to the Rams on Monday.
Tracy's lone offensive play -- a carry on which he lost three yards in the fourth quarter -- didn't end up counting due to a penalty. The third-year running back did play 16 snaps on special teams and returned two kickoffs for 52 yards. That appears to be Tracy's path to playing time at the moment, as he is firmly behind Cam Skattebo, Devin Singletary and Najee Harris in the backfield pecking order.

Giants' Tyrone Tracy: Healthy ahead of Week 2
Tracy (illness) did not appear on the Giants' injury report Thursday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.
Tracy was dealing with an illness to open the week, but he now appears to be back to full health. The running back logged just two snaps with the offense Week 1 against the Cowboys, losing a fumble on his second and final carry of the contest. Coach John Harbaugh said Wednesday that Tracy is dealing with an illness, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Three days removed from logging just two offensive snaps in the Giants' season-opening win against the Cowboys, Tracy wasn't able to take part in Wednesday's unofficial practice. Harbaugh believes Tracy will be back on the practice field Thursday, after which the team will post its first Week 2 injury report ahead of Monday's game at the Rams.

Tracy recorded two carries for 14 yards and lost a fumble in Sunday night's 28-20 win over Dallas.
Tracy put the ball on the ground on his second rushing attempt of the night, and Cowboys defensive lineman Quinnen Williams recovered the fumble. The running back didn't play another snap on offense the rest of the night. In total, Tracy logged two snaps on offense and nine snaps with the special-teams unit, and he'll enter Week 2 as the team's No. 3 option in the backfield behind Cam Skattebo and Devin Singletary.

Tracy suffered a neck stinger in last Friday's preseason finale and avoided a major injury. Giants' Tyrone Tracy: Commits another preseason blunder
Tracy rushed six times for 26 yards, caught all three of his targets for 22 yards and lost a fumble in Saturday's 26-3 preseason win over the Dolphins.
Tracy split carries with Devin Singletary in the first half while Cam Skattebo and the newly signed Najee Harris didn't see any action. For the second time in as many preseason games, Tracy made a key mistake. After whiffing on a pass block in the preseason opener, Tracy fumbled in the red zone Saturday. Tracy averaged a solid 4.3 yards per carry and 7.7 yards per catch through his first two NFL seasons, so while the 2024 fifth-round pick could still be a key part of the Giants' backfield plans in 2026, he needs to clean up the errors to avoid landing in head coach John Harbaugh's doghouse.

Giants' Tyrone Tracy: More competition in backfield
Tracy will face more competition for snaps and touches after the Giants signed Najee Harris on Tuesday, as reported by Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
New York already seemed to be leaning towards a backfield committee with Cam Skattebo, Tracy and Devin Singletary all working with the offensive starters during the team's preseason opener last Saturday, but Harris potentially adds another running back to the mix once he proves he's fully recovered from an Achilles tear. Tracy seems to have a clear path to a passing-down role, but Harris has a three-down resume from his time in Pittsburgh, including a 74-catch season in 2021 as a rookie, so he'll be a threat to all three incumbents. Tracy has produced a 74-572-3 line on 101 targets over his first 32 regular-season NFL games.

Tracy carried the ball twice for five yards in Saturday's 13-10 preseason loss to the Vikings. He failed to catch his only target.
The Giants' starters on offense played just two possessions in their preseason opener, but the backfield ended up being a three-way committee as Tracy, Cam Skattebo and Devin Singletary all mixed in. Tracy wound up having the worst day of the trio, as Skattebo managed 19 yards on four carries while Singletary also had four touches, including a 40-yard reception from Jameis Winston on a 3rd-and-23 early in the second quarter that helped set up New York's only TD of the day. Skattebo stands at the top of the depth chart, with Tracy expected to be the primary passing-down option, but Saturday's usage at least hints that their roles and volume may not be so clear-cut under new coach John Harbaugh.
