Jaguars' LeQuint Allen: Ready for larger role?
Allen (hip) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at Denver, Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union reports.
Jaguars coach Liam Coen told O'Halloran on Friday morning that he "fully anticipates" a larger role for Allen, who played just one snap in the season opener against Cleveland after missing training camp and the preseason with a hip injury. Ameer Abdullah is a capable replacement on passing downs, but it sounds like Coen still prefers Allen there once he gets back to full strength. It's not a role that will involve many touches, and even the snap count could be in single digits some weeks.

Allen missed the second half of training camp due to what the Jaguars had previously labeled as a soft-tissue injury before he was listed with a hip issue when the team released its first Week 1 injury report Wednesday. The 22-year-old remained sidelined for Wednesday's practice, but he was able to go through individual drills during the open portion of Thursday's session, per Rachel Phillips of First Coast News. Allen's level of activity was enough for him to get upgraded to limited participation, but he may still need to put in a full practice Friday to have a realistic shot at playing in Sunday's season opener versus the Browns. Jaguars' LeQuint Allen: Set for work on passing downs
As the coming season approaches, Allen appears on track to maintain a role on passing downs, John Shipley of Sports Illustrated reports.
With Travis Etienne -- who recorded 260 carries and 36 catches in 17 regular-season games for the Jaguars in 2025 -- now with the Saints, Bhayshul Tuten, Chris Rodriguez (foot) and Allen are slated to lead the team's backfield in 2026. As a rookie seventh-rounder last year, Allen played in all 17 regular-season contests, while logging 23 carries for 94 yards and catching 10 of 11 targets for 54 yards. As the team looks to reallocate Etienne's touches, Allen is a candidate to see an uptick in work this season, notably in passing situations, while Tuten and Rodriguez pave the way on early downs. As a result, Allen could end up on the fantasy radar in deeper PPR formats.
