  • Chiefs' Emmett Johnson: Huge day as pass catcher in Week 8 loss

Johnson carried the ball once for 15 yards and caught all five of his targets for 128 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-24 loss to the Broncos. He also added 44 yards on his only kickoff return.

The rookie running back flashed his explosiveness on a 73-yard catch and run in the second quarter that produced Johnson's first career NFL touchdown. He came into Sunday with a 9-109-0 line on 11 targets through six games, and his six touches were firmly behind Kenneth Walker's 25, but Johnson's breakout performance can only encourage Andy Reid to find more ways to get the ball in his hands. Johnson will look to build on this effort in Week 9 against the Jets.

  • Chiefs' Emmett Johnson: Logs two catches in Week 7 loss

Johnson caught two of three passes for 17 yards and returned three kickoffs for 81 yards during Sunday's 20-3 loss to the Seahawks. He also added two tackles on special teams.

Johnson was held without a carry for the second time in three games, with lead back Kenneth Walker bottled up for 36 yards on 14 carries (2.6 YPC). Johnson has seen three carries or fewer in four of the first six games of the regular season and figures to be limited to a third-down role as a pass catcher unless Walker were to miss time. The Chiefs will stay on the road for a Week 8 divisional matchup against the Broncos on Nov. 1.

  • Chiefs' Emmett Johnson: Five touches in Week 6 win

Johnson turned three carries into six yards and caught two of three targets for 18 yards during Sunday's 22-6 win over the Chargers. He also returned two kickoffs for 50 yards.

Johnson maintained his rotational role in the Chiefs' offense, with his 18 offensive snaps well behind Kenneth Walker's 45. Given Walker's tremendous start to the season, Johnson is one of the premier handcuff running backs in fantasy, and his scoring floor would rise significantly if the former ever missed time. The Chiefs will take their 5-0 record on the road for Week 7 against the Seahawks on Oct. 25.

  • Chiefs' Emmett Johnson: Handles one touch in Week 4 win

Johnson caught his lone target for 10 yards in Sunday's 30-27 win over the Raiders.

The rookie running back didn't handle a single rushing attempt behind Kenneth Walker's 22 carries for 177 yards and two touchdowns. Johnson still played 17 offensive snaps and remains the clear backup and bench stash to own in fantasy should something ever happen to Walker.

  • Chiefs' Emmett Johnson: Six rushes in win

Johnson rushed six times for 17 yards and returned one kick for 31 yards in the Chiefs' 24-10 win over the Dolphins on Sunday.

Johnson played 13 offensive snaps and nine special-teams snaps in Sunday's contest. The rookie fifth-rounder continues to see supplemental carries as a relief option behind Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker.

  • Chiefs' Emmett Johnson: Could carve out bigger role

Coach Andy Reid said Monday that Johnson could carve out a bigger role on offense as the season goes along, Charles Goldman of AtoZSports.com reports.

"As it goes on, I think you get a nice balance between those two (Johnson and Kenneth Walker), and it keeps them even fresher as the season goes on," Reid said. Johnson handled just four touches on offense in Sunday night's overtime win against the Colts, but he turned them into 35 yards and has looked like a legitimate playmaker two weeks into the 2026 campaign. He's solidified himself as one of the premier fantasy bench stashes at running back behind Walker.

  • Chiefs' Emmett Johnson: Looks good behind Walker in Week 1

Johnson rushed eight times for 24 yards in the Chiefs' 31-10 win over the Broncos on Monday night. He added two catches for 44 yards on two targets.

The rookie won the RB2 job behind Kenneth Walker pretty convincingly during training camp and the preseason, and Johnson showed why against Denver, consistently making plays with the ball in his hands. Most of his work came late in the fourth quarter with the game out of hand, but it's evident Johnson is a premier bench stash in fantasy should something happen to Walker.
