Brown was part of the team's roster cuts on Aug. 31 but eventually re-signed with the Patriots a day later. Once healthy, he will serve as the New England's backup center behind Jared Wilson.

Brown signed a two-year extension with the Patriots in late December. The reserve offensive lineman picked up an injury in the team's preseason opener that sidelined him for the remainder of training camp. The Patriots signed Brown to a two-year extension worth up to $6.6 million on Tuesday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
The base value of the deal is worth closer to $5 million, according to Reiss. Brown has appeared in all 15 games this season and has made a pair of starts at left guard. He's the Patriots' top interior reserve offensive lineman and is now under contract through the 2027 campaign.
