Giants' Jason Pinnock: Re-signs with Big Blue
The Giants signed Pinnock to a contract Monday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.
Pinnock started in seven of 17 regular-season games for the 49ers in 2025 and finished with 41 tackles (27 solo). He played for the Giants in three years prior, and while he served as an everyday starter in that period, Pinnock likely will operate more in a rotational role in 2026 behind Jevon Holland (knee) and Tyler Nubin (neck).

49ers' Jason Pinnock: Moves into reserve role
Pinnock played two snaps on special teams and none on defense in Sunday's 30-19 loss to the Buccaneers.
Through the first five weeks of the season, Pinnock had played every defensive snap for the 49ers, accruing 17 tackles along the way. The 49ers opted to shake up their defensive backfield for Week 6, however, with Pinnock falling out of the mix entirely while Ji'Ayir Brown moved into a full-time role alongside rookie Marques Sigle, who split snaps with Malik Mustapha at the other safety spot. Pinnock thus appears to be the 49ers' No. 4 safety at the moment, making him unlikely to receive meaningful playing time unless one or two of Brown, Sigle and Mustapha is out with an injury.

49ers' Jason Pinnock: Logs full practice
Pinnock (heel) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Pinnock did not play in the Niners' last two preseason games due to a lingering heel injury, but he appears to be past the issue and on track to play against the Seahawks on Sunday. With Malik Mustapha (knee) beginning the season on the reserve/PUP list, Pinnock is slated to serve in a starting role at safety alongside Ji'Ayir Brown.

49ers' Jason Pinnock: Still working through heel issue
Pinnock (heel) was limited to individual drills during Tuesday's training camp practice, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Pinnock sat out the 49ers' second preseason game Saturday due to a lingering heel injury, and it's still bothering him ahead of Saturday's preseason contest versus the Chargers. As long as he remains sidelined during team drills, rookie fifth-rounder Marques Sigle figures to see increased activity.

49ers' Jason Pinnock: Sidelined Saturday
Pinnock (heel) will not play against Las Vegas on Saturday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Pinnock was limited in practice this past week while working through a heel injury, and he'll be in street clothes Saturday to avoid aggravating the issue. Siran Neal and Derrick Canteen should see a heavy dose of snaps at safety due to the absences of Pinnock and Malik Mustapha (knee).

49ers' Jason Pinnock: Dealing with heel issue
Head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters Thursday that Pinnock is working through a heel injury, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Pinnock played 11 defensive snaps during the 49ers' preseason opener against the Broncos this past Saturday and finished with one solo tackle. He's been limited to individual drills over the past week, and the 49ers may play things safe by holding the fifth-year safety out of Saturday's exhibition contest against the Raiders. Siran Neal, Derrick Canteen and Jaylen Mahoney are poised to see a significant number of defensive snaps at safety due to injuries to Pinnock and several other players in San Francisco's secondary.
