  • 49ers' Kalia Davis: Activated off IR

The 49ers activated Davis (knee) from injured reserve Saturday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.

The 49ers designated Davis to return from IR on Wednesday. He was a full participant in all three practices this week, but he is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. If he does play, Davis will provide rotational depth at defensive tackle behind starters Jordan Elliott and Maliek Collins.

  • 49ers' Kalia Davis: Practice window opens

The 49ers opened Davis' (knee) 21-day practice window Wednesday.

Davis underwent knee surgery in mid-August and has spent the first four weeks of the 2024 season on San Francisco's injured reserve list. Now that his practice window is open, the 49ers have 21 days to activate Davis to their active roster. Expect the UCF product to serve as a rotational interior defensive lineman once he's fully past his knee injury.

  • 49ers' Kalia Davis: Officially on IR

Davis (knee) was placed on injured reserve by the 49ers on Tuesday.

Davis underwent knee surgery earlier in the month and he'll now officially open the regular season on IR. The defensive tackle is expected to miss roughly half the year, meaning he'd return at some point in mid to late November.

  • 49ers' Kalia Davis: Set for extended absence

Davis is slated to have knee surgery and will miss half the 2024 campaign, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.

Davis played in San Francisco's preseason opener Saturday against Tennessee and recorded two tackles, including a sack. However, he suffered a knee injury in the contest and is now expected to miss extended time for the third straight season. Davis didn't play in his rookie campaign due to a knee issue and missed the final three weeks of the regular season as well as all of the playoffs last year due to an ankle injury.

  • 49ers' Kalia Davis: Practicing at camp

Davis (ankle) is participating in training camp practices, Kym Fortino of the 49ers' official site reports.

The defensive tackle suffered a high-ankle sprain last December and missed the final three weeks of the regular season and the 49ers' divisional-round playoff win over the Packers. Davis practiced before the NFC Championship Game and Super Bowl but was never activated. In 2023, the rookie played on 50 defensive snaps and five special-teams snaps, recording one tackle.

  • 49ers' Kalia Davis: Stays on IR

Davis (ankle) will remain on injured reserve and won't play in Sunday's Super Bowl matchup with the Chiefs, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.

Davis has seemingly already recovered from his high-ankle sprain and has been a full participant during practice since before the 49ers' win over the Lions in the NFC Championship Game. Though he won't be available to play as the 49ers finish out their season, the defensive tackle should be a full participant for the team's offseason program.

  • 49ers' Kalia Davis: Practicing again

The 49ers designated Davis (ankle) to return from injured reserve Wednesday.

The transaction opens up a 21-day window in which Davis can be evaluated in practice before he would have to be added back to the 53-man roster. Davis missed the final three weeks of the regular season as well as the 49ers' divisional-round playoff win over the Packers last weekend while recovering from a high-ankle sprain, but if he proves he's healthy in practice this week, he could be reinstated to the 53-man roster ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Lions in the NFC Championship Game.
