Commanders' D.J. Davidson: Retires from NFL
The Commanders placed Davidson on the reserve/retired list Saturday.
Davidson was a fifth-round selection of the Giants in the 2022 NFL Draft. He appeared in 47 regular-season games (four starts) across four years with the Giants and logged 49 tackles (26 solo), including 2.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries and three pass defenses. Davidson signed a one-year contract with the Commanders in March, but the Arizona State product will hang up his cleats instead.

Commanders' D.J. Davidson: Signed by Commanders
Washington signed Davidson (neck) to a contract Tuesday.
Davidson handled a depth role along the interior of the Giants' defensive line across 15 regular-season appearances in 2025, totaling nine tackles (six solo) and one pass defensed. He appears to have recovered from the neck injury that caused him to miss Week 17 and Week 18.

Giants' D.J. Davidson: Sent to IR
The Giants moved Davidson (neck) to injured reserve Saturday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.
Davidson's season is now over, with the nose tackle accumulating nine tackles (six solo) and one pass defensed through 15 games this season. In a corresponding move, the Giants signed defensive lineman Elijah Chatman from the practice squad. Chatman may be called upon in Davidson's absence to take rotational snaps at nose tackle behind Dexter Lawrence.
