Top Bhayshul Tuten News

  • Jaguars' Bhayshul Tuten: Impressive as lead back in win

Tuten rushed 15 times for 66 yards and brought in his only target for 22 yards in the Jaguars' 34-10 win over the Browns on Sunday. He also recovered a fumble.

Any questions surrounding the potential workload split in the Jaguars' ground attack were definitively answered for the time being Sunday, as Tuten put together an impressively efficient performance and outpaced backfield mate Chris Rodriguez by nine carries despite seeing his day come to an early end due to the lopsided score. Tuten was able to consistently generate productive runs, but he'll have a much stiffer test on the road against the Broncos in a Week 2 matchup next Sunday.

  • Jaguars' Bhayshul Tuten: Ready to go for Week 1

Tuten (illness) wasn't included on the Jaguars' first Week 1 injury report released Wednesday.

Tuten missed a practice one week ago after falling ill, but his absence from the Jaguars' first injury report of the season suggests that he's 100 percent healthy heading into Sunday's opener versus the Browns. Jaguars head coach Liam Coen hasn't revealed how he plans to divvy up the snaps among his running backs; even if Tuten ends up starting, he could wind up sharing the load on the ground with Chris Rodriguez. Third-down specialist LeQuint Allen (hip) didn't practice Wednesday and appears to be trending toward sitting out Week 1, potentially opening the door for both Tuten and Rodriguez to also see a slight spike in pass-catching opportunities.

  • Jaguars' Bhayshul Tuten: Misses practice with illness

Tuten (illness) did not practice Wednesday, Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union reports.

Tuten should be fine by the time Week 1 against the Browns rolls around in 11 days. The second-year running back is expected to have a significant role in Jacksonville's backfield this season, but how this running back depth chart shakes out will be a situation to watch against Cleveland. All three of Tuten, Chris Rodriguez and LeQuint Allen (undisclosed) are likely to see snaps when healthy.

  • Jaguars' Bhayshul Tuten: Catching more passes after Allen's injury

Tuten excelled as a receiver out of the backfield at Sunday's practice, per John Shipley of SI.com.

The Jaguars appear to be directing more passes Tuten's way at practice following the soft-tissue injury suffered by LeQuint Allen (undisclosed), who had been penciled in as the team's preferred backfield option in passing situations. Ameer Abdullah could take some passing-down work if he makes the team, but Tuten has more receiving upside than Chris Rodriguez, who has just six receptions in 35 career regular-season appearances. Tuten caught 10 of 14 targets for 79 yards and two touchdowns during his rookie regular season.

  • Jaguars' Bhayshul Tuten: Listed as co-starter on unofficial depth chart

Tuten and Chris Rodriguez are listed as co-starters on the Jaguars' initial unofficial depth chart, Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union reports.

Preseason depth charts can often be taken with a grain of salt, but in this case the listing aligns with the notion that the Jaguars will employ a committee approach to fill the void created by the offseason departure of Travis Etienne. Also in the mix for backfield touches is LeQuint Allen, who could factor in on third downs. Regardless of how the team's snaps and touches are distributed, Tuten figures to merit fantasy consideration right out of the gate this season.
