Michael Trigg: Returns to Cowboys
Trigg signed a contract to join Dallas' practice squad Tuesday.
Trigg joined the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in April and played in two preseason games, catching four of eight targets for 30 yards. He was waived Sunday but showed well enough during training camp for Dallas to want to bring him back as organizational tight-end depth on the practice squad.

The Cowboys waived Trigg on Sunday, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Trigg played in the first and last of the Cowboys' preseason contests, hauling in four of five targets for 30 yards against the Seahawks before failing to catch any of his three targets in the preseason finale against the Saints. The tight end may not have been able to make the 53-man roster, but the Cowboys would like to have Trigg back with the practice squad if he is not claimed during the waiver period.

Cowboys' Michael Trigg: Goes catchless versus Saints
Trigg (toe) failed to haul in any of his three targets during the Cowboys' preseason loss to the Saints on Friday.
Trigg had been dealing with a toe injury but managed to suit up for the team's preseason finale and ended up getting the start. The 24-year-old could be a candidate to land on Dallas' practice squad should he fail to earn a spot on the team's active roster.

Trigg (toe) did not practice Thursday, Tommy Yarrish of the Cowboys' official site reports.
Trigg signed with Dallas as an undrafted free agent following the 2026 Draft back in April. He played 32 offensive snaps in the Cowboys' preseason opener and secured four of five targets for 30 yards. Trigg is trying to win a job behind Jake Ferguson, Brevyn Spann-Ford and Luke Schoonmaker at tight end.

Michael Trigg: Expected to land with Dallas
Trigg is slated to sign with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
Trigg spent his final two collegiate seasons with Baylor and is coming off his best campaign, recording 50 catches for 694 yards and six touchdowns in 2025. Dallas features Jake Ferguson at tight end, and Brevyn Spann-Ford provides steady run blocking as Ferguson's backup, so Trigg may need to prove himself on the practice squad before getting a look on the active roster.
