Ja'Corey Brooks: Waived by Commanders
Washington cut Brooks with an injury waiver designation Tuesday.
Brooks made his NFL debut with the Commanders as an undrafted rookie in 2025, playing seven offensive snaps in Week 6 versus the Bears. Now, the wideout is apparently dealing with an unspecified injury, with his roster spot having been filled by the signing of TE Anthony Firkser.

Commanders' Ja'Corey Brooks: Sticking around Washington
The Commanders signed Brooks (undisclosed) to a reserve/future contract Monday.
Brooks will stick around Washington after spending the 2025 campaign as a member of the practice squad. He was elevated for the Week 6 loss to the Bears, failing to record any stats over seven offensive snaps. The wide receiver also ended the year on the team's practice-squad injured list with an undisclosed injury, but he now appears to be healthy ahead of the offseason. With the new deal, Brooks will get the chance to train with the Commanders during the team's offseason activities prior to the 2026 season.

Brooks and Tay Martin have both been elevated Monday to provide depth at wide receiver, as both Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) and Noah Brown (groin/knee) have been ruled out versus Chicago, while Deebo Samuel (heel) is officially listed as questionable but is expected to suit up. Ja'Corey Brooks: Intends to sign with Washington
Brooks is slated to sign with the Commanders as an undrafted free agent, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Brooks transferred to Louisville in 2024 after spending the first three years of his college career with Alabama. He served mostly as an outside receiver while catching passes from Saints second-round pick Tyler Shough, with the duo connecting for 61 catches, 1,013 yards and nine touchdowns in 2024. Brooks will look to use his 6-foot-5 frame and contested catch ability to stand out from the competition during the Commanders' OTAs and minicamp.
