Vikings' T.J. Hockenson: Restructures contract
Hockenson (shoulder) and the Vikings agreed to a restructured contract Saturday that lowers his cap number for the 2026 season by $5 million, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Minnesota continues to get closer to cap compliance with this move, getting Hockenson's league-high $21.3 million cap hit (among tight ends) down to a more palatable $16.3 million, per Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com. Hockenson missed the final two games of the 2025 regular season due to a shoulder injury, finishing it with 51 catches (on 66 targets) for 438 yards and three touchdowns in 15 appearances. He and Josh Oliver (ankle) will continue to operate as the Vikings' top two tight ends in the upcoming campaign.

Vikings' T.J. Hockenson: Inactive Sunday
Hockenson (shoulder) is listed as inactive Sunday against the Packers.
Hockenson thus will miss the final two contests of the 2025 campaign due to a shoulder injury, finishing it with 51 catches (on 66 targets) for 438 yards and three touchdowns in 15 appearances. He has no guaranteed money on his current contract for next season, but $2.308 million of it does vest as of March 17, so the Vikings seemingly have a decision to make on the 28-year-old's future in the coming months.

Vikings' T.J. Hockenson: Misses another practice
Hockenson (shoulder) did not practice Thursday.
Hockenson has now been listed as a non-participant on five consecutive practice reports due to a shoulder issue, and he wasn't able to suit up Week 17. Barring a surprising return to the practice field Friday, it appears as though Hockenson is trending in the wrong direction to suit up for Sunday's regular-season finale against the Packers. Josh Oliver will operate as Minnesota's starting tight end if Hockenson is unable to play in Week 18.

Vikings' T.J. Hockenson: Not practicing Wednesday
Hockenson (shoulder) did not practice Wednesday.
Hockenson didn't practice in any capacity prior to being ruled out for Minnesota's win over the Lions on Christmas Day in Week 17, and he now has just two remaining chances to retake the practice field ahead of Sunday's regular-season finale against the Packers. Green Bay will be sitting multiple starters in Week 18, providing a nice opportunity for Hockenson to improve his production totals if he's able to take the field. Quarterback J.J. McCarthy (hand) was limited in practice Wednesday and is considered day-to-day.

Vikings' T.J. Hockenson: No activity Tuesday
Hockenson (shoulder) was listed as a non-participant in Tuesday's walk-through practice.
Hockenson hasn't logged any practice activity this week, so he'll likely need to be listed as at least a limited participant in Wednesday's session to have a shot at playing Thursday against the Lions. If Hockenson is able to play through the shoulder issue, he'll be working with undrafted rookie quarterback Max Brosmer with J.J. McCarthy (hand) ruled out. In Brosmer's lone start this season, a Week 13 blowout loss to the Seahawks, Hockenson was one of the few Minnesota skill-position players to deliver a useful fantasy line with six catches for 59 yards on six targets.

Vikings' T.J. Hockenson: Ruled out for Christmas Day
Hockenson (shoulder) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against Detroit.
Hockenson was held out of practice all week due to a shoulder injury that he likely picked up against the Giants on Sunday, and the injury has been deemed severe enough for the veteran tight end to be sidelined for Christmas Day. Josh Oliver, Ben Yurosek and Ben Sims will step into larger roles in Week 17, though their fantasy floors will be far lower given that Max Brosmer is under center for the Vikings due to J.J. McCarthy (hand) being ruled out. Hockenson's next and final opportunity to play this season is Week 18 against the Packers on Sunday, Jan. 4.
