Steelers' DeShon Elliott: Expected to land on IR
The Steelers are expected to place Elliott (knee) on IR due to an injury he sustained during Sunday's loss to the Packers, Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com reports.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin called Elliott "week-to-week" Tuesday, and the team also acquired Kyle Dugger in a trade with New England to provide additional depth at safety. Both developments are signals that Elliott's knee injury will require time on the sideline. Once officially placed on IR, Elliott will be ruled out for a requisite minimum of four games.

Steelers' DeShon Elliott: Week-to-week with knee injury
Head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that Elliott is considered "week-to-week" due to a knee injury he sustained during the Steelers' 35-25 loss to the Packers on Sunday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
The initial fear out of the Steelers' camp was that Elliott's knee injury was season-ending, though the good news is that the 2018 sixth-rounder's ACL is intact, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com on Monday. Elliott will likely be ruled out for the Steelers' Week 9 clash against the Colts and a stint on injured reserve is possible, though Tomlin relayed that any discussion of an IR stint has yet to happen. Chuck Clark, Jabrill Peppers and Juan Thornhill are expected to carry the load at safety for as long as Elliott is on the shelf.

Steelers' DeShon Elliott: May miss rest of season
Elliott (knee) is likely to miss the remainder of the campaign, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Elliott hurt his knee in Sunday's loss to the Packers. Elliott led the Steelers in stops while doubling his previous season-high mark. The veteran safety seems to be past the knee injury that caused him to miss two games earlier in the campaign. Elliott was held out of practice Tuesday for rest purposes, but there's no reason to think he's at risk of missing Thursday's matchup against Cincinnati.

Elliott registered six tackles (four solo), including 1.0 sacks, a forced fumble and two defensed passes, including an interception, in Sunday's 24-21 win over Minnesota.
Elliot made a number of big plays in the narrow victory, beginning with an interception of Carson Wentz in the second quarter. Elliott later sacked Wentz for an eight-yard loss in the third period and forced a fumble on the play, though the Vikings were able to recover. That was Elliott's first regular-season sack since 2021.

After missing the Steelers' last two games due to a knee injury sustained in the Week 1 win over the Jets, Elliott practiced in full Friday and is ready to return Sunday. Elliott hurt his knee in the season opener against the Jets and missed each of Pittsburgh's subsequent two games. He didn't practice at all for two weeks prior to Wednesday, so his return to the field, even as a limited participant, is a promising sign. According to DeFabo, Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that Elliott has a chance to return for Sunday's game against Minnesota.
