Cardinals' Josh Sweat: Activated from active/PUP list
Sweat (knee) was activated from the active/PUP list Monday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Sweat opened training camp on the PUP list due to a knee injury, but he's well enough now to take part in practice. Arizona likely will ramp up his activity level over the next few weeks with the season opener on Sunday, Sept. 13 at the Chargers in mind. in 17 regular-season games during the 2025 campaign, Sweat racked up 12.0 sacks among his 30 tackles.

Cardinals' Josh Sweat: Should be back soon
Sweat (knee) is almost ready to be activated off the PUP list, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
The pass rusher was placed on the active/PUP list before the start of training camp and has yet to participate in training camp. Sweat participated in mandatory minicamp in June, and his injury was never considered serious. The former Eagle recorded a career-high 12.0 sacks in his first season with the Cardinals last year.

Cardinals' Josh Sweat: Prepares to be activated
Sweat (knee) could return from the active/PUP list as soon as this week, Howard Balzer of USA Today reports.
Sweat has been on the active/PUP list since the beginning of training camp in late July. The star pass rusher seems to be close to playing shape and may put the finishing touches on his recovery any day now. Sweat played in all 17 regular-season games for the Cardinals last year, accumulating 30 tackles (20 solo), including 12.0 sacks, and forcing four fumbles.

The Cardinals do not intend to trade Sweat (knee), Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Rumors about Sweat's potential departure from the team were swiftly shut down by general manager Monti Ossenfort on Monday. Between the star defensive end's minor knee injury and the Cardinals' projected standing in the NFC West for 2026, many thought Sweat would be a prime trade candidate as the team tries to recoup some capital and build for the future. However, Ossenfort's comments cast doubt on that possibility, and it therefore appears the star pass rusher is set to play out the 2026 season in Arizona.

Cardinals' Josh Sweat: Knee injury not considered serious
Sweat (knee), who was placed on the active/PUP list Thursday, isn't dealing with a serious injury, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Sweat's placement on the PUP list was a surprise given his participation in mandatory minicamp in early June, but coach Mike LaFleur described the transaction, along with the PUP placement of left tackle Paris Johnson Jr., as "really just maintenance." LaFleur also said that Sweat is "fired up" to be at training camp and is "in great spirits and feeling good." It sounds like Sweat should be a full-go by the beginning of the regular season, and he'll look to build upon the career-high 12.0 sacks he recorded across 17 games last year.

Sweat was a healthy participant in the mandatory part of the Cardinals' offseason activities. The premier pass rusher has seemingly picked up an injury between June's program and training camp. Sweat logged 12.0 sacks for the team during the 2025 campaign, a career high good for eighth in the entire league. If the 29-year-old has sustained a significant injury, it could impact opening day participation and production for the Cardinals' defensive line.

Sweat was present for the Cardinals' mandatory minicamp Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Sweat chose not to participate in Arizona's voluntary OTAs, but he's now returned for the mandatory part of the offseason program. The veteran edge rusher impressed during his first season with the Cardinals, appearing in all 17 games and posting 30 total tackles, including a career-high 12.0 sacks, four forced fumbles and two passes defensed. He's expected to remain one of the NFL's top pass rushers ahead of the 2026 season.

Cardinals' Josh Sweat: New career high in sacks
Sweat recorded 30 tackles including 12.0 sacks, four forced fumbles, two pass defenses and one fumble recovery over 17 regular-season games in 2025.
After totaling 43.0 sacks in 104 regular-season contests to begin his career with the Eagles, Sweat secured a four-year, $76.4 million contract in free agency from the Cardinals last March. The 28-year-old responded with a career-high sack tally, tying for eighth in the NFL with the Texans' Will Anderson and Rams' Byron Young. Sweat should again be Arizona's primary threat off the edge in 2026.
