Jake Heaps: Released by Seattle
Heaps was released Monday by the Seahawks, John Boyle of Seahawks.com reports.
Heaps will get the boot in order for the Seahawks to make room for journeyman Austin Davis as their third quarterback. The 25-year-old will now look to earn a camp invite with another team and latch on in a backup role.

Seahawks' Jake Heaps: Re-signs with Seattle
Heaps announced via his personal twitter account that he has re-signed with the Seahawks.
Heaps competed for the backup quarterback position behind Russell Wilson last season, and it appears he'll have the opportunity to do so once again. Heaps will be competing against Trevone Boykin, who won the backup job in 2016.

Seahawks' Jake Heaps: Pushing Boykin for backup job
Heaps is pushing pushing rookie Trevone Boykin for the backup spot behind Russell Wilson, the Seattle Times reports.
According to Doug Baldwin, Heaps has been the most accurate passer in training camp. Boykin still has the edge, though, as the Seahawks like that his dual-threat style is similar to Wilson's. The team also has not ruled out signing a veteran after cuts start in the next couple weeks.
